Well Ive spent all day replacing my Poli track with argos bargain carrera track Ive currently got the layout up to about 50ft thats a bit less than the old track but the carreratakes up a bit more room.It doesnt seem as fast as the poli but theres no rubber down yet , the first few test laps were around 5 sec wit a pro slot porsche no mag and around 4 secs with a tsrf with a mag theres definatly less atraction than other makes, but its dead smooth.Ive fed the power in in 4 places and it seems even all the way round ,Ill try and do some pics tommorow and maybe get some barriers up then I can see about getting those times down. I may paint the track with grey floor paint as my routed track used to be .Incidently the best lap round the politrack which was about 54 ft was 2.93 with my fly porsche gt1 (very modified )

Heres a a few pics of the work in progress ,Ive used old desks as base boards as they afford me a lot of storage space and they came free

The rats nest of wiring will all eventualy be hidden

view down the main straight inthe direction of travel sorry about the exposure but Im' no David Bailey

once I am happy with the basic layout I will make some mdf borders and fix it all down permenant , then the hard work with the scenery starts .

I would be interested in how you connected the power taps. the streckenplanner has an option to add more power sections, but i believe this is just to allow more driver positions aroud the track, in themselves they are not power taps, unless the controller is plugged in and actuated.

I have used the uk standard 3 pin 2 amp socket and have not used the carrera power points but instead I have removed the plastic boxes from the power straights ,once you get rid of the plastic cover you will see that the power is just fed into the track using push in springy copper connections I have just run extra wires from my socket and soldered to these ,I have used 2 seperate 7amp 13 .8 volt switch mode psu's so I should never get any variation in track power .If you can find a coppy of the slot car bible I think theres some pics which show what Im on about ,If you need any more help let me know and I' ll draw up a diagram

Nice work, Graham!

If you need a hand, then give us a shout by all means. Look forward to giving you a race on the new track , or should I say look forward to being an obstacle when the car falls off
2.93s impressive.

Mark.

Probably have a bbq /race meet when the weather bucks up and maybe a drag race down the drive what do you think.
The 2.93 was on the old track best so far on this was a 3.2 this aft with the black hole capri but its way over geared and doesnt get any where near flat out,a 7 tooth pinion should take care of that
