You shouldn't do this, Tom. It means hours at the screen that I might have used on actual cars, including your Jaguar bodies.
Still, it's a wonderful resource. Such strange, unknown and forgotten beasts. Well done for finding it.
A couple of the 1959 Behco cars have front suspension/steering looking partly like the early VIP metal units.

Yes I know, I was up til late last night going through it and again this morning! Lots of great stuff. I'm surprised I didn't come across this before now.
Interesting to see those early MRRC bodyshells and chassis, well all of it is pretty great actually.

Once again, what may be most striking about this is how much of the same stuff was sold by several different brands - and how much odd, obscure stuff is still there to be discovered!

I was wrong on those Behco steering units. They'd be MRRC, not VIP. Well, it was a dark photo.
Looks like Behco in Sweden used a lot of MRRC stuff. Elsewhere someone in Sweden says: "It appears that Behco/Bertil Beckman & Co had a close relationship with the british rail racing and slot car pioneers MRRC (Alban Adams & Henri Baigent). It's also seem very likely that a lot of the stuff, if not all, that was marketed here in Sweden under the "Behco" brand was in fact - MRRC..."
Are the MRRC vac bodies that you mentioned, Tom, the Behco F1 cars about p2?
As Don says, it's striking how much of the same stuff was marketed under different brand names.

]I have abook "electric model car racing" by dickie laidlaw dickson and opposite page 80 there is a photo of sa slot racing go cart which the text claims was a collaboration between alban adams and bertil beckman of sweden
So there was obviously a fairly close relationship between MRRC and mr beckman ,who until I saw this pst had no idea he was involved in Behco. you learn something every day here .

In fact, your earlier link worked okay too, and it all seems to have been translated into English already, unless they were communicating in English (as sometimes happens on the French forum Folm), because I don't think David speaks Swedish!

There are photos and an interesting article on slotless electric model car racing on page 9 (near the bottom) via Tom's first link at the beginning of this thread.
The article is from a 1972 issue of Model Car Science magazine. It describes an American system, from Heathkit, using 1/32 scale cars with two motors, one for each drive wheel, which provided steering of a sort. Both power and steering commands were picked up from the track.
The article said up to 10 hours of work was needed, soldering to PCBs, etc, though that may have been just for extra cars.
There's a little on it in a 2006 SlotForum thread (search for Heathkit) but the images are no longer there, and no-one had first-hand experience of the system.
Does anyone remember using the system, or hearing whether it was effective - and fun?
