I'd like to wish EM, Dr Alan Schwartz, everything of the very best on his 68th birthday!

Al is one of the people who I've "met" through the slot racing discussion lists, a good few years ago now, and although we have never met in person, we have become very good friends. Isn't the Internet wonderful?!

Al is an avid slot racing enthusiast, experimenter and scratchbuilder -- take a look at Hatching an Eagle to see just one of his works -- and an asset to SlotForum.

"Ecurie Martini" started slot racing back in 1958 when he was student. A bio-chemist by profession, Al is one of the nicest people I've never met!

Have a good one, Al!

With kind regards

Russell

Many thanks, Russell - as has often been observed - getting old has its problems but consider the alternative! While we have never met, I did take one step closer to making a connection last week - My EWR to LGW flight on Continental was a code-share with Emirates!

The internet is indeed a great thing and has had a very profound effect on our hobby - to which end I would like to thank the founders and moderators of this forum for providing an excellent venue for the exchange of ideas and gathering of information.

Alan, let me add my best wishes to you on your birthday.

Meeting you in Vegas, and sharing a couple of meals and much conversation with you, was one of the highlights of the trip for me. Our one-on-one late-night stint at the bar was especially nice.

All the best to you for years to come. I'll be raising a glass in your honor in about three hours . . .
