I bought an Aston Martin V8 resin kit from Pendles the other day.

It's this body shape

This was my teenage car crush

Has anybody built one of these kits? If so could you post pictures as I am looking for inspiration (very few photos of this car on the interweb).

Also - any assembly tips if you have made one?

I have a Slot.It HRS chassis with both sidewinder and in-line motor mounts so I'm hoping for something a bit special in the handling stakes (once I remove all the excess resin from inside the front and rear bumper areas).

I'm not normally slow to start a build but this needs to be a bit special

Thanks for your reply- your DB4 GT Zagato is gorgeous by the way.

I know what you mean about the look.

I went for the V8 because of nostalgic reasons so I may have to live with the imperfections.

Heaven knows why they went for the standard V8 rather than the more purposeful V8 Vantage with its blanked off grill and deep front spoiler. If I have to do serious reworking I may as well go the whole hog.

Looking at the model the rear and side views look pretty accurate to me. It's the front that looks a bit too "upright". The grill is too deep vertically and the headlights need to go up about 0.5mm.

Reworking the front could be the best option (and make it truly unique).

What about finish though - do you have photos of your customer car?

Sorry Mr Mod I did mean to take a few shots but in the heat of the moment I clean forgot. In my opinion the only part of the Ocar body that's ok is the roof section. Wheel arches are wrong, flared and in the wrong place. Overall it's much to square and doesn't have anything like the grace of the fullsize car. But that's just me innit! The version i'll be doing (eventually) will be the first incarnation, that being the DBS V8. Four headlamps etc. I've no idea when i'll even make a start on it.
And thankyou for the kind remarks re. the Zagato.

Graham.

just a friendly warning in case you don't already know !!.

Wear a mask when lightening the body, and preferably do it outside !!.

vbr Chris A.

Thanks Chris.

I tend to do that sort of stuff in the garage doorway with the door open. Eyes protected. I will put a face mask on as well - thanks for the heads up.

You know the story behind the 4 headlights don't you?

Apparently when it was transferred from drawing to clay they made the body 6" wider than intended. The tooling was made before they realised. Rather than redo everything they simply added a second pair of headlights.

The later, much prettier V8 was proportioned as intended with the correct number of headlights.

Don't ask me how I know this - I was a big fan in the 80's and had all sorts of car books - sadly now all lost.
