For your edification and enjoyment...

I've been wanting to do this car for a while now. It's a representation of an ex-works car that currently is being vintage raced here in the US.

It's Ninco Healey on an MRRC Cobra chassis. Power will be supplied by a modified NC-1 motor. The wheels are BWA, the centers will be white GOM minilites turned down. I wanted a full cockpit and to get rid of those awful Ninco driver/navigators. This was done by cutting away the Ninco cockpit forward of the rear seats and constructing the deeper bits in plastic card. The seats are resin castings of Monogram Cobra static model buckets. The driver is part Fly and part SCX. The roll bar is soldered brass.

The body was modified from the Ninco original by cutting and building vents on the side as well as the forward oil cooler holes. Other mods include the "bustle" for the extra spare. I also built the bonnet scoop, hood vent and the fairings, radiator and the AN lines for the oil cooler. To do yet is the stone guard screen for the radiator put everything together and take it to the track for final tweeking.

This is a picture of the real car doing what it does best, - showing a clean pair of heals to Corvettes etc.

BTW, If you do I've got a number of spare decal sets.

Let me know your snail address I'll post them.

That looks superb!

QUOTE I wanted a full cockpit and to get rid of those awful Ninco driver/navigators.

Couldn't agree more, it would be nice to see a decent open faced helmet driver with and without goggles, the Fly Balaclava driver is pretty good, just not suitable for all classic racers.

This thread has convinced me to place an order for a Ninco Healey and after witnessing one raced very fervently at my local club by Ecurrie Ecosse, always thought the tin top version looks great!

Please post pictures with the Minilites fitted, I really would like to see the final result and I'm sure they will finish the model off nicely.

Thanks for sharing.

Great model!

I used to see the real car around, John Chatham one of the previous owners used to live quite close by. He also had or has another works Healey in british racing green with the number plate DD300.
