I have recently bought the scalextrics digital platinum set for 300

I was using it for the first time today when 1 car (the Yellow and blue Audi) stopped working.
This was the first car I used it worked for about half a lap then stopped, now when I press the trigger it makes the sound it does when you give it a tiny bit of power but alas no movement:(
Just to try it out I had put the new power supply in my current sports digital layout so bar the power supply there was no new track - if that would effect it?
Please help
Thanks

Hi Ben,

It may be that you have some fluff and stuff stuck to the axles/bearings. Get a small crosshead screwdriver and remove the screws underneath holding the body on, should be either 4 or 6 of them and have a good look around the back axle and gears.

All the best - Greg

I take it you removed your old power base? Having both in the circuit - even if one had no power to it - would be very bad (as in smoke and flames bad).

Digital track needs to be very clean and good electrical continuity is crucial to the digital signals embedded in the power. Your car may have lost its ID or may simply not be geting enough power.

Clean your track and try to make sure all connections are good whilst you are waiting for the experts to comment here.

As you have the new set I would ignore your old setup and just use the new stuff to establish whether the set is wotking OK.

Reset the ID on the car to the correct controller and try again. If it works OK then your old track is the problem (solvable with a little work).

Great set. You will have loads of fun - especially if you get a pit lane game and SSDC later on.

Yes I took out the old Power base, I tried using my old power supply with the car and I had the same reaction. The track is fine because all the other cars run fine
It may have something stuck in the gears Il look at that now
Thanks

I've had some Scaley cars with dodgy soldering of wires to the motor - check that. If not then it might be the chip - swap it with a chip from another car if it then works you need to contact customer services at Scalextric Margate - Helpline 01843 233525 (+44 1843 233525 from outside the UK).

Ben,
You didn't say whether the rear wheels could turn or were stuck. that would help point the diagnosis to electrical or mechanical.

That's why I suggested taking the top off first, sometimes the motor or the back axle pops out; always try the easiest things first.
