Ok

First I was enthusiastic about entereing a car in Profs races, then got terribly depressed
when I saw all your fantasic offerings, then I thought I would cheat and send 2 cars that I have that have been made By Phil Smith and Derek Cooper (will still send those), and then all the cars I wanted to do were being done better by others....... sheesh life is tough here on the forum.

Ok Ok - so I have this Nostalgia 66 Honda F1 body , that I want to do. I can remember seeing this car being driven by John Surtees at the 66 SA GP at Kyalami. This and the Pescarolo driven Matra flat 12 are still the most memorable cars - because of the noise!!!

Anybody out there have some good pics, links, drawings that I could use???? (nudge nudge Russell

Hi Anthony......

This is not a competition for WINNING. It is a competition of celebration. One part is that we enjoy these cars for their engineering and beauty. For some of us, there is nostalgia involved. For some of us as slot car guys, there is the challenge of building this most difficult of cars. But it will be a celebration. There just are not that many BUILDERS in the world, and we can get together, if for no other reason, just to SHOW.

Participation is a form of winning. Out of tens of thousands of of slot racers around, you are joining a select group of a dozen or so people for whom this is even POSSIBLE.

Oh, and this is not MY event. It belongs to the builders. I am just a host.

Absolutely! So far as I am concerned, there are very few things in recent memory that have given me as much pleasure as following the posts and progress that this "competition" has engendered. Being able to see this outpouring of talent and skill makes us all winners.

Prof

I realise that.....
was said tongue in cheek!!!

I just want to avoid abject embarassment........

I Hope you do get Robert to take some really good pics as I am sure this is going to be an outpouring of talent on a world wide basis
Personally it will be an honour to submit a car in this company .........

(Will still send Phil and Dereks car as well as they are superb examples of the slot building craft...)

Hi Anthony

In addition to the excellent links given by Bill, here's a scan from the Tamiya 1/12th scale kit:-

This beautiful 1/32nd scale version was built by JohnP:-

For details, see here.

Unfortunately, the Lotus 56B first raced in a Grand Prix in 1971, so it doesn't qualify for the proxy race.

Kind regards

Russell

Just found another picture of it, I thought I had lost all these old pictures when my internet provider had a lightning strike, not long ago and wiped out my website

But after a bit of searching on another old hard disk I just found them all again
