Hello,

I just got myself two Nascar racers and ordered two chips too to digitalize them. By removing the little white connector from the black baseplate, I accidently ripped out the tiny black cable from the connector.

Has anyone an advice how to fix it again?

if the little metal connector is still on the end of the wire then it should just push back into place. I can not see it in your pic very clear as i am viewing on a mobile.

If the wire has snapped away from the metal tang then you will have to solder the the wire direct to the chip board or get a new connector.

These plugs are called from memory jst , i started a thread some time ago and a member did find a supplier for them.

Strip the wire so you have 4 or 5mm of bare wire. Twist the strands so that they form one wire. Push it into the other open end of the connector. Fit onto chip. With a bit of luck that will be a permanent fix, as long as you dont need to remove the chip.

I tried to repost your picture. The metal ends for the wires and pushed into the plug after the wires are connected. They can be removed. If you look very carefully at the 4 shinny bits in your picture you will see they are sprung loaded barbs. You'll need a very small screw driver or a pair of tweezers or something and if you are as old as me

a magnifying glass.

Put the plug on a firm flat surface and push down on the shinny bit and lever it out of the white plastic. If you have tweezers you can pull with them while pushing down on the metal with something else. The metal part will come out of the white plastic and you can re solder the wire to the metal then push the metal back into the white plastic.

In your picture the colour order for the wires is green, red, yellow, black on the end.

I've done what Mike suggests, but you can pry up the little white tines of plastic rather than push on the metal pins to "unlock" them from the connector.

I just wanted to let you know that I managed to push out the little metal connector, carefully opened the little tongues and inserted the striped wire back again. Then I squeezed the tongues together again and put the metal-clamp back into the white plastic-connector. No soldering. It works fine with the new chip, thanks for your advices!

there should not be any need to solder anything on these connectors as the name mentioned above (JST) stands for from memory Japan solderless technologies.
