hi
i need to re tape some of the xlc sections in my layout. On removing the old tape the adhesive backing has remained in places...

So far i have tried contact cleaner but it just softens it and i can not lift it..

Is there a magical for removing it that wont melt the plastic...

Not sure if it's available in ol' Blighty, but there is a cleaning product made from citrus oil which works well. Citro Clean is the best one I've found. I use it for removing glue left from vinyl graphics on vehicles, signs or banners that require changing. Otherwise, Prepsol would be the next thing to try. Another product that I use on vehicles to remove tar and such without damaging duco.

Cheers

Are we talking about copper tape residue? I've noticed multiple posts where people are concerned about removing this. If you have the
appropriate tape, the adhesive is conductive and there's no reason I can think of to bother removing it. Just burnish after reapplying the
new tape to smooth everything out nicely...

hi
after trying numerous household products i could not shift the residue, so followed Jihn's advice and all is now perfect.

Just re-applied over the old glue and smooth the tape down.
