Hi, folks -- I'm rejoining the hobby after about a 20-year hiatus. I did about 10 years of HO slot car racing, but I've given that up for the fame and bright lights of 1:32.

After sizing up several brands of track, I came to the conclusion that I had too many fingers, and needed to pick up a router. My design is done, templates are laid, and I'm within 24 hours of starting the actual routing. The track is planned for about 75 feet of 4-lane entertainment, and if all goes well, I should be breaking new cars on the cement floor of my basement within two weeks. Check that -- three weeks, as I have a visitor coming in for a week.

Cars that I semi-desperately would like to find for my collection include: 1971 Porsche 917K (vertical tail fins), 1971 Porsche 917 LH, and any year Austin Mini (not Clubman).I'm also interested in any year Auto Unions, Bugattis, Mercedes, 70's - present day Formula 1, GT Prototypes, Ford GT40's (Mk I's, II's and IV's, if they make them), and I could really use a set of 4 cheap NASCAR machines for thrashing with my girlfriend's kids.
Oh yeah, and I'd like to collect each and every LeMans winner, and the world championship F1 cars for the last 30 years or so.

There it is, more information than anyone needed. Have a cool day, I'll see you on the board.

Thanks, I'm pretty excited about the whole thing. I don't even have a track yet, and I've bought something like 10 cars. Three arrived today, in fact.

I do have some pictures of the project, I'll put them up when I figure out how to upload.

Welcome Squish.
Just be careful you don't spend so much money, in advance, on cars that you don't actually get around to building the track! It's easily done and you run the risk of turning into a collector.

Yeah, it could happen! Actually, I just have a few more things to buy to complete the track. I need controllers, but I've set aside cash for that, and I need some paint. The money might last me through the end of the project, and leave me a little left over for *ahem* collecting.I've read the Dummies Guide, so I think I just need to get out there and sign up for some web space, and I should be all set -- thanks!
