just a quicky. would a hudy owner measure the drum size for me, without the abrasive roll on. i want to make a tyre truer and i need a ready supply of pre made abrasive rolls. thanks john.
The Hudys I've seen don't have a separate abrasive roll, the abrasive particles are bonded directly on to the grinding drum.
There are lots of standard sizes of abrasive roll that could be used for a home made tyre sander. It would be best to use abrasive rolls with even thickness at the join - any experts out there like to recommend sources of rolls like that?
I'm also in the verge of building a tyre truer and my line of thinking was to use a dremel drum or at least it's roll.
It would be interesting also for me to know the Hudy's size, at least just for comparison.
Cheers,
JamieG
IMO it would be better to visit the local tool supply shop and see what they sell in drum sanders, that way you get the sanding drum almost ready to use and will have an easily obtained supply of sanding bands.
