I thought for the AGM

I think we ought to cut down the laps to 16 and finish the laps you are on.

This will stop the software guessing the average time taken, if you finish after someone has lapped you.

I didn't think it will make the evening much longer, and for those that have the pleasure of finishing their laps after most have finished will get their fiver's worth!

If someone is more than 3 laps behind the leader then they need help from us to get them up to speed, generally most people at out club are really good anyway.

If they are more than 4 laps behind, I'm thinking of introducing electric shock treatment and public humiliation....

Another blinding idea from me.

Totally agree, 16 laps is quite enough really. I think we increased races to 20 laps because the new track was shorter than the old one, but it makes little difference really.
Letting the computer calculate average times (Lee and I know a song about that) has always been a bit naff, so offering more help to those who struggle to stay on the lead lap is worth a go. However some of them can't/wont be helped.
We can but try.

Yeah, think this is likely to happen dad also was talking about this earlier... Its a shame because its often that theres not usually more than 2 or 3 on the lead lap , those more than one behind will be doing a lap of shame .... they may well want to improve to stop that from happening.

On a side note... who stole your pants skid?

Interesting proposal.

I've been looking at some of the results and have come up with some figures with regards the fastest laps attained during the different classes we race.

it won't be exact as these are the absolute fastest laps and are not an average of the entire race (except endurance) it also doesn't include time spent when cars come off (except endurance), here goes then

Porsche difference between absolute fastest and slowest is about a second (mine spends most if its time on its roof while in a corner, however, once upside down corners like it's on rails!)
For a 16 lap race last place would be a couple of laps behind

Classic difference is about 1.5 sec between fastest and slowest (there's a figure of 6.86 for julian on one flying lap
OMG!!!!!) if you take out Julian
(sorry Julian) its about a second.
For a 16 lap race last place could be up to three laps behind

Endurance difference over the whole evening of races (this is more accurate as its an average over the whole event divided down to a single race and does take into account people coming off) is 6.2 laps between fastest person and slowest person on average per race. I know this is a timed event but it illustrates just how many laps there could be between the other classes first and last places.

To summarise; we would need to have the seedings implemented to prevent large differences between first and last places but other that its a good idea.

Yeah , that will happen provided there is enough people
, pretty sure Julian's 6.86 isn't a valid time for classics , it's more like 7.3 I think for a legal car

It sort of stuck out like a sore thumb as a possible experiment of Julian's, but the way things are going classic could break the into the very late 6s at any time.

If motor rules are changing on sic class then allow the previous open can motors (boxer-2 and scaleauto21k) allowed for the brm class

Sorry had to comment having seen this thread a few times. the strap line has left me with visions of the hand throtles wired to deliver 15volts each time a car laps you. Now thats going to hurt.

So, just to be clear. At the moment we've got five classes: Slot.it challenge (challene if your from Berkshire), NSR Porsches, Slot.it/NSR classic, BRM and Riley endurance.

It's proposed that we drop the Porsches in favour of something else. MSC rally cars have been mentioned as one possible alternative. Does anyone else have any sensible suggestions?

My personal feeling having tried an MSC Subaru is that they could get a little boring on our current track, so it may be worth putting them on a back burner until we've changed the track, if indeed we do change the track.

If we want a more "out of the box" class that's more drivable than the NSR's I think we could do a lot worse than Mr. Slotcar as I think Lee's already suggested. They have a whole raft of impressive looking stuff on the way which I feel in time could rival Slot.it, especially now Pendle are behind them.

Will we be able to do mr slot car straight away though ? it may also be worth waiting 6 months untill they have released more bits and pieces.

Another class to consider is the new scaleauto 1/32 scale cars , sadly also mainly coming in the new year with the merc already out and a jag and honda on the way...

How about ... dare i say it bring back ninco gt for 6 months and see what the situation is on mr slot car and scaleauto 1/32 scale

Rules could be slot it running gear and wheels with slot it tyres f22s) as the add ons (most of us have enough slot it stuff laying around anyway? Fixed gear ratio 28:12 ?

I thought the idea of a new class was to run it 'out of the box' with the view of attracting new members and keeping the rules as simple as possible?

To run them as standard, no extra bits and pieces are required. They go very well with a simple glue and true. Even the chassis was straight on mine.

I was mainly talking about a wider variety of cars ... They currently only do a Mazda but will be doing a Porsche an what I can't wait for a Nissan

White kit Mazda is also available and the dolly mixtures should be available soon.
The new models can be added as they appear and if we all run Mazdas to start with, it'll be the fairest class ever. Nobody can moan they've made the wrong choice. Job done.
