I'm not sure what was wrong with the old board, but my dad always used to say...

OK.

EDIT: Ah, two can play at that game... *mumble*edit your posts, why don't you*/mumble*
Those extra large quotes are something of an eyesore, but an easy fix *hint* =)

For the initiated.. http://www.invisionboard.com/?features lists the feature set of the current version. 3 other forums I frequent are also upgraded/in midst of upgrading currently. It's been a good thing. Low-fi is always nice. =)

We're going to intoduce a really cool thing in the next week and this upgrade was required for that reason.

Oh no you don't. No cool things while I'm around. I am anti-cool

This new format/software/whatever takes up too much real estate on my monitor. I like a tight crisp layout that lacks in all the dead white space. I'm running at 1600x1200 as usual and thought it slipped to 800x600 somehow. But then, if it were up to me we wouldn't use graphics at all, just plain text in a 6 point font

QUOTE Those huge "quote marks" are freaky though!

i'm not very keen on the new look quotes, and the other thing is the window gets called 'search results' instead of slot forum when you look at new posts, which results in me losing the window when I follow links...

other than that, cool

At the bottom of the screen, there is a Lo-Fi version just for you.

All these issues of asthetics will get sorted out as soon as I get the meaty bits done first.

Woh, we've stepped back into the Dark Ages - what is with the basic look?

And can we have the sleek smooth old look back? Please!

What do you mean by that?
Hold on fellas!
Nuro is working his nuts and screws off, fine tuning the new software and, having seen many improvements in the last couple of days, I expect to see more still over the next week or so.

There are several comments I could make, but I am holding all back, in a neat list, until the fine tuning is complete. When it is, I expect most (probably ALL) of our doubts and fears will have been eliminated, just as they were over time with the previous version, which wasn't perfect on first installation either. It developed, over time, into the fine piece of forum workmanship that we all knew and loved.

Just be patient and please don't jump on the detail until the master has finished his work.
The wait will be well worth it!

Sorry Nuro, I don't mean to be nasty and I know with sites it takes a few days to iron out any problems (as I am a web designer myself), but little things like the top banner is all out of alignment, the front page is just confusing with three columns inside of the previous two.

Good sites which this one is, should be pleasing on the eye, and easy to navigate/use - I hope the upgrades you have planned transform this site from a good one, to a bloody marvellous one!

Cheers

I like it.
Once it's all done, I think many more will share my view.
After all, it's not vastly different.

Keep up the good work.

I think this place is fantasticer than ever before. I even had to invent a word to describe it
Well done Nuro!

Some guys would moan and groan if they were hung with a brand new rope!!

I say give Nuro a chance. It's no skin off your nose's is it.

Well I think Nuro has done a fantastic job (one which I couldn't do!!!) and we should all be very gratefully of the work that he has put into the forum.

I, myself, have never before been so involved in a forum & that's not just because of the topic it covers. I've been a member of an equestrian forum (that's horses for those who don't know
) and a couple of Goth ones. This is by far the friendliest, most help full & fun. Not to mention the best produced!
I say, quit the moaning and be thankful for Nuro's hard work.

Heres to Nuro
and long may it continue.

Cheers,
David

I agree with you 100% bacardi,
still there is 2 things that puzzle me about your good self,

i) is that a picture of you now or when you were younger?

ii) is it just in the cotswolds that you have curcuits and not circuits?

i) It was the girls at the office that first called me Uncle Fester. Unless I haven't shved & then it's Alxi Sayle. & I'm sick of being called Goerge Dawes!!!
but I'll except Lex Luther

ii) Arr, so you've spotted I can't spell too well
. I'll put that down to my dad being an electricain, all those years ago. Hay, that's why I became a designer, I only have to make it look good!

Cheers,
Fester er... I mean David

I've often been confused with being Bruce Willis and on a bad day Bob Hoskins!
Tell me more about the girls in your office! Would they like to come round and see my puppies?

Hi everyone! Maybe it's just me but I can't find the tab "view new posts" any more. It use to be on the front page but it's not there.........

I see View New Posts next to My Controls near the top right of every page.
You also get this option if you use My Assistant

As mentioned earlier, Nuro is fine tuning the layout on a VERY regular basis, so expect to see details change from time to time over the next week or so.
DON'T PANIC!

Ok, I'll confess -- I'm PC challenged!

I obviously do need to get used to the new format but I've been doing a lot of more 'clicking' than I had to do previously!

One of the features which I liked on the old style board was the poster's WWW link (where applicable) at the bottom of the post. You could click on this without having to log-in. Now you have to log-in and then open the 'card' to find it.

A feature that would be really useful would be a link to "View today's active topics" at the top of each page -- when you're not logged in.

FWIW

Kind regards

Russell
