In my stocking this year:-

Fly Porsche 911 gt1 Evo
Fly Lola T70
Fly Porsche 917
Fly Ferrarai 512
Fly Lola B/98/10
Scalex GT 40
Scalex Cadillac Northstar.

Plus my boys were home from University so I actually had someone to race against.

I am happy to report that all ran on my Scalex Sport track without problems straight from the box, with the quickest (and most pleasent to drive) car being the GT 40. Great little car.

My Sport track is laid out on the floor at present and it really did cause a few problems. The joints are really all over the place, some high some low and some narrowed in. When I build my "proper" layout" I am going to have to spend a great deal of time sorting these problems out and solder wipe each joint to get rid of the awful clicking. (No it's not the guide depth!).

Having said that it is a great surface and all cars seem to work well with it.

Perhaps I should have kept the Carrera Track?.

Incidently not one of these cars can compete with my TSRF chassied Porsche 936, that car is awsome, I just need to buy another chassis so that it has something to compete with!.

Hope you all got what you wanted!

Regards and a happy New Year.

Alan, I need to get a bigger stocking!
Nice selection!

I got the Fly GT40 #9 and my son got the Fly Saleen #5. No big surprise - I had ordered them! But they didn't arrive until Christmas Eve and my wife scurried away with the box on sight to wrap them, so it was still a nice surprise to see them in the flesh on Christmas morning.

I got the SCX dome (detailed elsewhere) and my brother's bringing over what's 99% likely to be the sport DeWalt TVR. He's getting a revell cobra daytona off me, and something carrera off my mum, I reckon a non-superbird roadrunner.

Santa did pretty well this year. Scalextric Dyson Racing Lola, Carrera Ferrari F1 #1 and some track from my little girls (Zoe aged 10 mths & Amy aged 3yrs).
Needless to say I've been too busy playing with Bob the Builder, Barbie and many others to try any of my 'toys' yet, but I'll get there.

I got an SCX Dome... the trials of which are documented elsewhere...

My son (nearly 4) got a Scalextric Sport IRL set... I was a bit nervous that the cars would be a bit fragile with the cross-over curves, but no problems so far... except the wings fall off in a shunt just like the real cars... The lack of barriers with the set had me thinking cars would fall off every lap but again no problems...

My son has already perfected the knack of making me crash on the cross-overs whilst staying on the track himself, Equally though he can be (annoyingly!) quick when he wants to!!!! Even his little sister (2 1/2) is beginning to get the hang of driving...

The Sport track slots together really easily in fact he put most of it together himself (with a bit of supervision). It was great being able to assemble the track, plug it in and run the cars straight away with no dead track etc.

Don't knock the IRL cars chaps, if you want cheap fun cars give them a go... we have five between us and out of the box they're great fun...

Well done Scalextric, thanks for producing something that has made a little boy so happy (and his daddy!!)

Ooops, just I was about to finish this there was a cry...
'Daddy the rear wings broken...' but a spot of superglue has fixed that!

I was fully expecting a Scalextric Mustang. After dropping so many hints to my girlfriend I was sure she had picked up on it.
However, I opened my presents up and there wasnt a slot car in sight...bollox !

Mind you, she did book me a day out at Mallory Park driving a D and E type Jag and a DB6 too

My wife had me full convinced I was not getting any cars, but hoo haa I got the Ninco Gigante Champcar, and the Slot.it Kenwood 956!!

I did get them oiled and ran a few laps, but my son got a G scale Thomas set, so I was busy getting that all together.

You lot have really made me jealous!

When I got back into slots, my other half, mum and sister were so pleased that they would get a response from me other than the usual shoulder shrugged "dunno" that they had previously been used to when asking for ideas for chrimbo and birthday pressies.

Huh! Didn't last long though!

After probably two years of pre arranged "steering" briefings with my local supplier I was met with " Oh, it's boring to keep getting you slot cars as presents"

And that was basically it, apart from getting the first two Fly trucks (possibly because my other half was stuck for ideas that year and they literally arrived a day or two before christmas, and I had been, jokingly, suggesting that she could get me a new lorry -real one- as a present) and on my 40th birthday a built Top Slot Daytona Cobra as a special treat (Thanks to Collette at Monarch Lines, now one of my prized cars).

Mr.M

Happy New Year to all as this is my first post of 2004- been away, been busy etc. etc. etc.

Hah! Lost my train of thought there, whinging on like that. Definitely getting old!

What I was leading up to was that this morning I found that one of my presents does have a slight connection to slots.

I was given the David Beckham auto(?)biography and in it he(?) states that he got a Scalectrix (their spelling) and drove the wheels off it (wouldn't have taken long, considering the quality back then)

It made me think that now he resides in true slot car country and will be looking for presents for two young sons, perhaps he will send some lackey out to get a "Scalectrix" for Brooklyn & Romeo and......................

Who knows (or cares!), perhaps in 10 years time we will be hearing about another person returning to the hobby they enjoyed so much in their youth?

I managed to persuade my wife to buy me two cars this year. Normally I have a "PS2" game, but as I had already purchased "Medal of Honour - Rising Sun" myself, there wasn't much else I wanted.
The two cars were the brilliant "Slot.it Kenwood Porsche 956" and the ugly but nice "Vanquish MG BRM P160". I have not raced these cars as they are intended for my expanding (and costly) collection, but I do intend to get myself a Slot.it Porsche sometime later this year to race.
