Ok everybody, venue now confirmed.

The Cherry Orchard Hotel, Port Erin have agreed to host the Manx round of the 2013 Slot Rally GB on April 20 & 21 April 2013.

All the 33 Hotel Apartments are self-catering and have two bedrooms plus a sofa bed that sleeps 2 in the lounge so can accomodate up to 6 persons. The cost of a room should be £89.00 per night but I have negotiated the price down to £70.00 per night for any Slot Rally participants and family. Quote Manx Slot Car Club for the discount. It could work out to £23.33 per couple if three couples shared, bargain! All residents have the use of the Swimming Pool, Sauna, Jacuzzi and Gym facilities. No breakfast served but rooms are self-catering. You have a Supermarket one minute away plus a Co-op, Chippy and 5 pubs in close proximity!

The Hotel get a discount on the Ferry prices so worth checking out. 01624 833 811 Website www.cherry-orchard.com.

Approx 20 minutes from Ferry terminal if I am driving and about 40 minutes if Dave C driving!!! Only ten minutes from Airport.

If anybody wants to bring their wives/partners who do not want to participate, Port Erin has a scenic routed Steam Railway which can take them to Douglas, or a very good bus service. Port Erin Beach is a 3 minute walk from the Hotel, and there are lots of lovely walks nearby. A 30 minute walk takes you to Cregneash Village and down to the Calf of Man, two IOM heritage sites. So lots for people to see and do.

For the Slot Rally we have the use of three rooms adjacent to each other for the tracks which are very well lit, bright and airy. One has the Tea/Coffee making facility, and one is next to the bar for refreshments and bar food throughout the day.

The hotel can accomodate a large party for an evening meal and I will get menu's nearer the time as an option.

We are trying to encourage as many competitors over as possible for 2013, and hopefully letting you know details now will give more time to book holidays in advance etc.

Any questions please feel free to ask. PM me for my contact details if you want to speak to me about anything.
Thanks.

Well everybody, after the Farnham round there seems to be a little bit of interest of coming over to our event, especially if the Sponsorship for prize money comes off, (funnily enough!).

Thanks to all of those who expressed an interest. Further details will be known at Wye Valley hopefully.

At present 8 "ready made stages" + 1 made up plexitrack will be available and possibly reverse one of 3 if required.

The Ferry timetables will not be confirmed until November and possibly the Flights as well.

The prospect of 4 or 6 sharing a room was discussed with some humour
! For a few nights it can be a cheaper option for most.

If the idea of somebody organising a Minibus to come over comes off, that would drastically reduce the cost if anybody wants to pick up the mantle on that one.

Itinery example: Pick up Minibus Friday from south in the morning, travel north picking up persons at various designated points. Afternoon or early evening Ferry to IOM. Unpack @ Hotel and grab a Chippy from around the corner (best on Island mefinks) and sit on the beach pigging out. Sample various alcohol beverages including our excellent Manx Ales, from 5 outlets in Port Erin before hitting sack in Hotel. Whistle Stop Cafe for Breakfast on Saturday morning before Saturday lunchtime start to Rally. Bar snacks available and refreshments. Infamous "Night Stages" fun competition before a group dinner at the "Chequers" (in the Hotel). Sunday morning Bacon Baps supplied at discount rate (tbc) then onto final stages before presentation early afternoon. Afternoon /evening to relax and possibly enjoy more refreshments before return journey on Monday. Simplezzz!

See you at Wales or PM me any questions.

Chris

That's the thinking I like SplitRim!

Now if all the other SlotRally GB competitors can convince there partners how much they need a long weekend away in the peaceful, charming and relaxing IOM we will be onto a winner.

Did I mention the shopping for the ladies in Douglas and at St Johns?
