WOW!
You played in Diamond Chestnuts!!! My favourite band of all time.
Hi Guys
My claim to fame was that I was allegedly nearly run over and seriously killed by an internationally famous film star
This story was realted to me a few years ago by an old slot racing mate from back in the 60s
when I was young i lived in Harrow and so did roger moore (aka james bond and simon templar )
some time during that period of time I had gone to a party with a few of my slot racing mates and since I have no memory of this incident ,I guess i must have drunk too much of the old "milk of amnesia"
Any way on leaving the party in the early hours I tripped on the curb and fell into the road .
At which point a white volvo P1800 screeched to a halt narrowly missing my prostrate body
some what alarmed by this ,a suave looking tall gentleman with a slightly cocked eye brow got out to see if he had damaged me
At which point I opened my eyes and exlaimed "F%/K me ,it's Its the Saint "

Does that make me famous ?
Cheers tony
For someone who has no memory of this incident you describe it surprisingly accurately, right down to the cocked eye-brow, even before you opened your eyes. Funny that. Anyway, we're glad you survived.
I am the alien life-form that escaped from my crashed craft in what became known as "the Roswell Incident".
My mates are all confined in Area 51 & they say the food is not to their liking.
Apart from that, I have been harmonica-player with Wizz Jones, Eric Bibb, & 1 or 2 other well-known musicians.
I 'feel' kind of famous just now - my youngest daughter (Anna, 13) was selected to play for Catalonia in the recent Spanish Volleyball Championships in Cartagena. Well, they had a great tournament and beat Andalucia (the firm favourites, no less!) in the final, becoming the 'Campeonas de España'. Gold (coloured) medal, article in the national sports press etc etc
QUOTE (Dopamine @ 4 May 2011, 22:25) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>My children think I'm famous because I've been pictured in several cycle racing and triathlon magazines.Same here, dozens of times, usually cacked up to the eyeballs with mud, or in a compromising pose wearing lycra.
(or blindingly drunk at the race after party)
Also:-
Some kid autograph hunting at the national champs almost ended up with an almost worthless poster of the team i rode for, he got autographs from the 5 or 6 full time paid pros, then asked for mine. Thinking that as i was wearing the same kit, and was stood in the same enclosure that i was a) actually any good or
somehow famous.
Fortunately, commonsense took hold, and the fact that i was an unpaid, and not very good sponsored amateur, so i refused. Thus ensuring that his poster was actually worth something......
He probably went to tell his parents about the stuck up pro who wouldn't sign his poster..........
Diogenes, Wizz Jones was definately still alive & gigging last year, he comes down to the south west for "coffee-house" gigs each year.
Sometimes as a duo with his son,a multi-instrumentalist.
Wizz is a lovely man, no airs & graces inspite of his influence on the Pages,Claptons,Jansches,Renbournes, etc ln the early days.
Hi Robert & every one.
It's a small world as they say.
I jammed wth Wizz Jones on Anjie in the bar of the Bull & Stirrup in Chester one Sunday evening in October 1971.
We had a beer prior to him going upstairs to do his gig at the folk club upstairs.
Those were the days.
BAZZ
Great news that Wizz is still gigging. He was a lovely bloke and it sounds like he has stayed the same but I have not seen him since 1968 to thank him for teaching me the country blues. Does he still play Big Bill Broonzy stuff?
I will look for him on the web. I don't play too much these days as it interferes with building slot cars which I am at least three years behind on. (makes note to update Lotus 24 build on Scratch Building).
I don't know if this counts or not, but one of my favourite games is 'Torment The DJ' with the staff at BFBS, with a particular focus on their breakfast show. It's to the point now where I get a mention on the radio most days. This has been going on long enough that when we meet new people, a lot of them say, "Oh, you're *that* Stuart." So, is that famous, infamous or notorious ? I just can't decide.
I last saw Wizz about 3 years ago, He still plays country blues & his own material & an eclectic mix of stuff,on his beloved Epiphone dreadnought,& he,s got more hair than me, long white hair !
