Would prefer 2 hours. 4 hours least favourite.

We have a venue but the table dimensions could require a narrower track.

I don't own any high detail DPR cars!!! Our digital club runs a DPR class and they are all super-resistant due to the intense nature of our racing

Why can we not simply weight our cars up to the minimum weight? Happy to make sure 5g is placed high to compensate for the lack of interior.

If it's a big issue I will buy a high detail car but not sure I see the point.

By the way - the Scaley Aventador is also DPR and seems to perform about the same as the F430.

QUOTE (GRUNZ @ 20 Jan 2015, 20:30) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>hey Marcel, All
what do you think about this version?

This layout requires 13 R3 and 7 R4. Let me know if you (Marcel) can outsource the required R3 and R4. Otherwise this version could be fitted with more R2.

Lane 1 (external) 19.70 m, Lane 2 19.20 m. Also, XLC placement is only what I think would be optimal. We could remove the one closer to the APB on the main straight to reduce them to 4. I put it there just to avoid cars getting out of the pit lane.

Too many R3s for me - I think I only have 4. R4s not a problem. Not enough R1's but I can live with that

Would like to see a few more borders otherwise overtaking will be limited to pit stops.

QUOTE (Minardi @ 20 Jan 2015, 22:41) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Race length/Spare car
I suggest each team has a spare car ready. It is up to the team to decide if they want to repair the original car, but once a spare car is on track, It should finish the race.

No surprise that I like that suggestion.

QUOTE (Minardi @ 20 Jan 2015, 22:41) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Cars
*REMARK* For me No DPR would be allowed, the older Aston Martins are not DPR. This would allow also the Ford GT and Porsche. Agree ?

I'm fine with that. The spec for the chip would need to be broadened, but limited to stock (non-uprated) chips, IMHO.

QUOTE (Minardi @ 20 Jan 2015, 22:41) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>My idea was to have 2 or 3 lay outs with the same track pieces and only decide the day before (Friday 13) what layout It will be, to prevent people practice for days and days on the lay out of the official race.

I like that idea, too.

Also not mentioned was that some people have modded APBs. It's not possible for us to use stock power supplies and have them work as normal. We can, however, turn our variable power supplies to a particular voltage. It would be good to have some expert input on this, so that those with the high-power mod can get the most appropriate voltage to be equivalent to those with stock power supplies. Rich? Colin?

I like that idea. When we raced them, we allowed this for those who did not have a high detail car. Although lights were not required, some installed them anyway. I think as long as the car meets the weight requirement, and all other specs, the actual level of detail is less important. One could argue that a detailed interior and a bunch of lead on the chassis makes for vastly different car performances, but for this first foray into the idea, that might be picking nits. I suggest, though, that cars be photographed, body off (showing inside of body and chassis) both before and after the race, with a decent camera, and the photos uploaded to a shared location, or posted to a thread. It will be interesting to see the details of cars that win (or lose).

I think the idea is to have borders on the outside of all turns, if possible. Either scaley or home made. I think he just showed those where track was getting close, to make sure he had room for borders where needed.

We have a standard APB with two standard Scalextric power supplies. Happy to leave the uprated chips out of the cars. Also totally OK with before and after photos of car innards.

We are not expecting to win but we are expecting to have fun

Hi all

Cars: What do you mean with Ferrite on leads? Do you mean to have the ferrite man on the skis/braids? I thought that this is a standard configuration...

Cars 2: I would say that we should only allow cars with the same mechanical and electronic components. This means that they should have the same gearing/bushes, same motor and motor configuration, and type of chip. To level things up, I would suggest to go for only GT cars (SR and HD) produced after 2013 and stock DPR chips.

Time: Actually I was asking to start with Practice at 9 am Auckland time. If this is possible for everyone than it would be great.

Build The Layout: I would say that the layout needs to be agreed upon 48h before race start. So everyone will have time to build it and sort out any issue. Also there will be some time to familiarise a bit with it.

The Layout: so we are going to stick with 4 R3 and 8R4?

The grid: shall we keep adding positions here? Before March we will run out of layout as more teams will join in ;-)

The Border: As MrF said, I was just checking the dimension with borders included. As long as no barriers are used then everyone is free to put as many borders as liked. I like the idea of building your own borders.

Putting the ferrite man on leads means to add wire between the guide and the ferrite man. Having to repair a broken ferrite man's leg is something that can, and should be avoided, and is best done by adding an inch or so of soft silicone wire between it and the rotating guide blade that causes the ferrite man legs to fatigue and break.

Oh I see...not the standard scaley configuration then. No worries, I have done that on most of my car during xmas break. I have even done a small how-to on this. ;-)

Hi All,

I'd prefer that all the cars were high detail. I know there the SR cars we have like the Lambo and Ferrari are so much faster than anything else we have that I'd feel they were preferable and I'd then want to use one myself even though I don't like them personally. Even weighted up they'd be different as the High Detail cars have a portion of weight high up in the car (the interior). I also think cars used should all have racing liveries and lights should be required too. If it's going to be fair I thin we need to stick to some rules which don't open it right up. Otherwise next we'll say it's ok to use SCX GT's or something else like that. Let's keep it simple. No problem with non-DPR cars for me either, it adds a few into contention that would otherwise be left out. Even if teams had to buy a car to compete, split three ways a car is cheap and the team could let the driver with the fastest racing lap or quali time keep it.

Cheers,
Damo.

The last track, Switchback V6 appears to have R1's either side of the central corner, I'd rather avoid R1's straight after another R1 as it impedes the flow too much. Much better in my opinion if you can prepare and brake for an R1, then get on the gas and out of it. A technical double R1 corner I think will create too much havoc in an endurance race.

What do others think?

By the way, I love the long curve preceeding the main straight. Looks good to drive.

Cheers,
Damo

Hi guys;

Tracks;

V4,V5, V6 all ok for me, just need to check my stock.
So one these 3 It will be than.

GRID: YEs, just keep adding positions, it will take some more teams before we run out of track

Cars;
Mr Modifier, If you can source a High Detail DPR I think It would be good.
I am not saying I don't agree to use SR with added weight, but It will keep the rules clear and avoids discussion.

2013+ not necessary for me, as long as everything inside is standard configuration.

I am more 'worried' about the modded APB's. In any case, It will be interesting to see the results. I am looking forward to the analysis afterwards

Can we have a definitive list of permissible cars please?

If I have to go shopping I would like to know what for!

If we are allowing non DPR but fitted with a standard C7005 chip then I quite fancy a Scaley Ford GT-R. Or maybe I should say [email protected] it and haul out my limited edition high detail F430?

Decisions decisions.

Reminder - I need to know what tyres you guys will need so I can start making them. I would prefer to have all requirements in by the first week of February so I can make all the tyres from the same batch of urethane and then send them out to you guys so you have a week or two to glue, true and test them prior to the race.

+ coating of front tires allowed (nail varnish or cyanoacrylate) ?

Here's my track submission. This is based on a party track I used to do, which was based heavily on SlotCarDad's digital track, plus a pit lane:

Damien, you might be right but I like a challenging corner. ;-) If I got time I will make another entry with a simpler one. Actually I would like to see one from you Damien: I really like what you did with your track. A 1.5x5 m version of it would be nice.

Nice one Greg. There is a nice spot where the racing line chicane (modified CLC) would sit very well. I am short of two single lane straights but I can replace them with a full straight. I tried to locate the original post of SlotCarDad but the images are gone. Do you have the original plan?

Richard, personally I am going to order several tyres for several models: you would just put down two of those pairs as the ones we should receive for this event (no need to send them separately). I am still figuring out the tyre sizes as for your email.

Finally: if you take an APB with the high power mod, could it still work with the two original power supplies?

The space we have for track at the moment is only 4.6m wide and 1.2 m deep but up on a bench. We are trying to find a floor space with WiFi. Could v5 track be shortened to 4.6m? We could use boards to make the bench deeper.

F430 - very reliable in my experience (my SR 430 is in its 3rd season). But you have to glue the spur gear because it almost always parts company with the axle!!!

Ford GT on its way as alternative option.
