QUOTE (NIK B @ 11 Dec 2013, 14:59) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>I did alter it slightly MJE, it's not an exact replica. But I thought it was cool too, that's why I did mine like that.

Phew!! I thought you were onto me for a minute

No need to panic lol.

Being able to have a look at other peoples idears is one of the things that makes this forum so good. Its a shame that some of the pics have been removed from the older threads though.

Some of the images that are now sadly missing, were dimensional 2D line drawings, that gave all the sizes he had used. I altered the 1st floor sizes so mine wasn't quite as high. I didn't want any one structure to dominate the scene, so there was more emphasis on the track itself. All of my structures are slightly under scale, the idea being to make the track look marginally bigger than it actually is. Be careful with that though, as you can end up with subjects that appear dis-proportionately small.

Enjoy the project MJE, it's a cool subject.

Yep, that's the beauty of scratch building, it's done with one purpose in mind...............what suits you! All our individual tracks are different, with individual requirements and restrictions. It's up to you, the "modeller" to decide whether or not the mass marketed products suit your needs. If it doesn't, then there's no other option than to build your own.

Hats off to everybody here, who, not only build their desired buildings, and everything else they want to see, but openly share that information for all to take advantage of, if they so desire. That's what makes this forum what it is.

I've spent a long time time typing, deleting & re-typing this post, it started as a proper rant, so I've had to tone it down. I realise that the mass manufacturers can only cater for a small minority, whilst the specialist manufacturers demand a hefty price tag for giving people the option of something more bespoke, albeit still something that doesn't fit the bill entirely.

The long & the short of it for me is, if you can't buy, or can't afford to buy, what you really want, build it. It's really not that difficult. All the info is here somewhere, & if you can't find it, just ask. There's always somebody who's more than happy to help.

Mini rant over
I'm going for a lie down now!
