Jackie Stewart was interviewed by Johnnie Walker on Radio 2 this evening. He was promoting a new DVD but the interview was well worth listening to as Walker is a motor racing fan and knew the right questions to ask.

They discussed everything from Stewarts's dyslexia to his break into single-seaters, his career and safety campaigns and the current battle with Ecclestone over the British GP.

It's worth a listen and you can hear it by going to the BBC website http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/index.shtml?logo and selecting the listen again facility on the Radio2 page.

I'm not sure how quickly they put the shows on this so maybe give it until later today.

Funnily enough Fergy and Howmet he did talk about the problem of getting out of the cockpit of his crashed BRM at Spa in 1966 when he was trapped for 30 minutes with the full petrol tanks leaking until they could borrow a spanner from a spectator to release the steering wheel.

Of course the organisers would not have been blamed for this lack of rescue facilities in those days yet nowadays ironically the organiser will fine a driver $5000 for not re-attaching his steering wheel after getting out of the car.....how times change.
