Well this one put up a fight! I think in all honesty it's my messiest repaint for a while thanks to the window trims. For future reference you should mask the windows off before spraying this one (if you're mad enough to attempt it), then fill in any gaps on the pillars afterwards with a slender brush.

Many thanks to claus for the BMW badges at front and rear. The new printing technique that Patto's got going on meant that the yellow came through sharp and clear from the get-go.

Anyway, here goes, the 1985 Australian Touring Car Champion...

Very nice. If only anybody did an '85 mustang, vk commodore, an xjs or volvo turbo for it to play with.

It's funny how at the time these cars were caked with sponsorship, yet we look at a representation of it now and the livery is quite clean and far from busy.

Thank you! I hear you on the Group A-ish era cars, I'd love a modern Rover 3500 - hopefully someone will take the bait with an XJ-S given there are three racing liveries and The Saint to put out there.

How about a Scalextric Australia twin set of the Mustang and VK? Email Martin Whitaker and tell him I sent you!

Looks good, only worry is that you mention yellow,I hope you mean gold as the decals should be gold.
Chris have the Mustang well on the way,to add to my Group A collection. Including a narrowed Scalex rover.
The XJS is another long project. Volvo is available as a resin.

Although I'm not what one would consider a BMW fan, I always thought this was one of the best looking cars on the track at the time. A classy livery. Nice to know others appreciate it.

Hi Phil,

Yes it's yellow, and I know the original car had a real chrome-gold finish - in fact on track it seemed to disappear sometimes reflecting the asphalt! That said I don't much mind the yellow - might help me see the darn thing on our track!

Where's that Volvo to be found???
