BBs sometimes switch providers or change their software, in that case you may have to register again. If you were using a BB to host pictures those can get lost, I prefer to use picture hosting sites like Imgur for that.

I am not 100% sure I understand what is missing for you. Can you help me understand?

Rod and a lot of other people are complaining about all the missing live traders on this part of the forum

(12) The Hobby Traders Showroom | SlotForum

It was the go to place to find and support the small hobby trader that our hobby relies on.

The original Hobby Traders Forum said that if traders d9idn't update their thread on a regular basis they would be removed. I think you will find the archive contains the list of traders who hadn't bothered updating their entries for a long time and should have been removed long ago.
For some reason the archive of lapsed traders exists but the thread fo9r all the "live" traders disappeared shortly before the move to a new platform.
This problem has already been highlighted several times over the past 3 weeks or so.

Clearly, ignorance and/or negligence (probably some of both) has lead to the loss of the data that was in the active Hobby Traders showroom forums. If there was a checkbox to restore that, I'm sure someone would have found it by now. I'm ready to call it lost, and at this point would prefer they just re-add those forums, even if we have to "apply" for them again, so that we can start the process of restoring our threads/pages for our products.

Every day without new forums to fill, or the old one restored, is wasted time and added frustration.

I kept on to Bob, (Chappy) and after several attempts he found my whole folder and made it live again.
It took polite persistence from me because I'm sure he's a super busy guy.
It proves the information is still there.

It appears the Gallery was broken long before the new migration. I am not certain those images can be restored.

HobbyTalk Traders will no longer be an option moving forward. Several were removed during the transition to the new platform. I did move yours to the archive section, but that is just for archive purposes. It is no longer active. Most current Hobby Traders were given Premium membership.

We are working on something for our small business owners in the future, who are unable to be Site Vendors but I do not yet have an ETA for this.

I encourage you to start a new Gallery.

How To Add A Gallery

Click on the 3 vertical dots near the upper-right-hand corner of the community.

Click on “Gallery” in the drop down menu.

From the left side navigation, click on “Your albums”.

Near the top right of the page, click on “Add media”.

A popup will open. Click on “Create personal album”.

First, add a title to your album and a description. Now it is time to click “Upload file”.

Once you have uploaded your file, add some information for the image.

When you are done, click save.

When need to add to your album, click on “Gallery” from the drop-down menu below the dots in the upper right-hand corner of the site again.

Click on “Your albums” from the left-side navigation.

You can click on the add media button again.

And then click on “Add media to existing album.

Or if you prefer, when you click on “Your albums” you can just click on the specific album where you want to add the image(s)

When you click on a specific album, you will also see some privacy options so you can decide who can view your images and who can’t.

So what is actually happening? Post 12 appears to say that we will no longer have a Hobby Traders Forum which is a retrograde step. Many of us wouldn't have been aware of some of the "cottage industry" traders without the forum. It is a valuable resource and one of the attractions of Slotforum..

If the Hobby Traders Forum is being deleted and so much other stuff has been lost in the move to the new platform what do the new owners propose to offer to keep all of us interested enough to continue visiting?

There is another fairly new slot car forum out there which offers a Hobby Traders Forum, Members Items For Sale and a Wanted forum without asking for money for premium membership. I have no problem with a small fee for premium membership for those who want to place adverts but other posts I have read appear to imply that, at some point in the future, premium membership will be required to be able to see and buy from the For Sale section. If that is the case it is unacceptable both to sellers and potential buyers. Even Ebay doesn't charge a fee to visit the site to buy something!

I assume the new owners of the forum want to generate as much advertising revenue as possible but how do they propose to keep the visitor count high if they remove (or lose) much of the content which appeals to forum members?

Prior to the move to a new platform this was a friendly forum which was a pleasure to visit. I am sure that, from a web designer's point of view, the new format is an absolute dream but for me it is overly complicated and all I see every time I log on is complaints because members cant work out how to make the forum a user friendly place - all very disappointing.

There is a real danger that hobby traders will simply set up on Facebook and choose not to participate in this forum. That will mean more members of this forum using other media instead of this forum. A slippery slope indeed.

I dislike Facebook because it is difficult to find stuff again so I prefer the forum format BUT I am now visiting Facebook just to see hobby traders such as FibreSlots.

I'm a technical/business translator, and this is the kind of language I translate all day long... I sometimes find it hard to believe that people actually talk like this.
Or, as Mad Men said back in the 50s, "Let's run it up the flagpole and see if anybody salutes!"
