Lancia Delta S4

A few initial pics of a build (more of a modification?) I've got going at the moment. It's a Teamslot resin kit of the Lancia Delta S4. The original body left a bit to be desired so I've done a little bit of work to sort it out and add a bit of detail. It's going to sit on a Ninco Seat Cordoba 4WD chassis, hopefully with some slightly more authentic wheels.

Originally there was an indistinct lump at the rear of the body that was supposed to represent the exhausts. I cut this off and built a new system from plastic tube.

Image

Apart from the exhausts the main modification was to add another 5mm to the bottom of the bodywork between the front and rear wheels.

The shell was then primed and has since been sprayed white.

All that remains is to create some decals (planning on the Toivonen '86 Monte car), install the glass, lights, etc, sort the driver tray (trying to reuse the Ninco Seat one if poss), get hold of some better wheels............ etc etc etc

Will post updates as and when I make a bit more progress.

Cheers

Don

QUOTE (scuderia_turini @ 2 Jan 2013, 00:00) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Ecellent !! Had written off the T-S car as a poor example, wishing now I had one to mod like you have done. Needs LEDs in the spot-lights...

Kind regards, Leo

Hi Leo

Your wish may yet come true

I got bought mine quite a while ago, as a basic body kit, direct from the TeamSlot website (listed under "Old Pieces"). It looks like they're still available.

All the best

Thanks Graham!

I'll probably need my electronics wizard neighbour to explain some of this to me but it looks infinitely doable. With only round lights to sort out, and no wing-mounted safari style spotlights, it should actually be easier than the Audi ..... but for me the devil is in the detail or at least the wiring

Yep, it's the same for me. Wiring. I just don't understand it.

I've got a Slot.it lighting set, sadly with only two front lights and two rear, which is itching to get into one of my rally cars. I must talk to my friend Maurizio and see if he will produce a lighting set for rally cars with six front lights. Hands up who'd want one.

Hello Don,
An exhaustive search of my loft only revealed on unmade S4 and its a 1:43 Esso version. I do have a couple of Polistil 1:32 slot cars and was thinking about pealing off the stickers, but they are quite straight line stripes, so will have a go at drawing them up.
Meanwhile Team Slot have acknowledged my order and today sent an invoice (paid promptly!!) so hopefully two shells will arrive soon. I am a whizz with LEDs :- )

Hi Leo

Thanks for looking. Let me know how you get on with the stripes.

My build is on hold for a week or two while I try to finish off my track. I'm far too good at starting multiple projects and not finishing any of them, so I've put everything else to one side until the scenery is finished on the last part of the track. That way, when I get back to finishing the car builds, I'll actually have something nice for them to drive on

P.S. An LED expert eh? now that may come in handy

Hello Don,
Hope you don't mind me adding to your thread...

My S4 bodyshells arrived on Saturday so have started work on the first one. Have drilled out the light "sockets" and they will accept 5mm LEDs :- ) Following your example I am extending the sills and have glued on supports for the filler. Only other bit is that Ihave cut out the rear window aperture (that is such a nice word isn't it?).
Have started to deisgn the stripes (front ones first) but have also asked T-S if they have any or have a master template - fingers crossed.

Kind regards, Leo

I like the idea of a joint build thread!!

.

You've made good progress so far. Mine's sitting waiting for me at the moment. I've got way too many unfinished projects on the go, the biggest of which is my track, so I'm being extremely strong-willed and finishing that off first (v nearly there!)

A cheeky ask on your part but, if you can get something usable from TS, it would make life so much easier.

Looking forward to seeing and hearing more

Hello, guys! Sorry, that intervenes in your topic! How are things going with a parallel job? When I found out about your intentions decided to join the remote ... Also, I have for some time kept Team Slot kit.

In order to avoid duplication of my knowledge SCX S4, a prototype chose rare STRADALE version

Going into the process, because body is heavy and skewed ... Is why did the good to drive. I used GOM RWD chassis. By the way - the model run well, just have a tendency to tip over when cornering

P.S. Perhaps lack of mudguards...

Hi Leo,

The wheels agree. I tried to make a similar ... Also, I found two photographs, a car with different wheels. The main thing that white
Image
. This was a low-budget project, the wheels of the corvet. As for avatar - ECV has already started, I have not solved the issue decals.

The rear bumper - did not find any picture from the rear

And then there were three !! Welcome to the Delta S4 Club, Italis

Nice looking car. Kind of agree on the wheels being a bit wrong but it still looks good, and with a road car I think you have a bit more flexibility!!

My build has stalled slightly as I try to finish my track and I've also been distracted by a relivery of an old Scalextric mini. This is a good prompt to get back on with the job. Having seen what Leo's done with his lights, I think I'm going to need to follow suit.

A general question - if I ever manage to wire up 8 LEDs, what effect will this have on the power?

Hi
Is the car going to be analog.? If so then the led's have in built resistors? Standard brightness are around 12ma draw so multiply by 8 and it is under 100ma wich is a tenth of an amp.

After a bit of a long journey, I now have an S4 with working lights. Careful drilling of the light recesses and a bit of filing down 5mm LEDs produced the effect. For motive power and the interior I used the bits from a Hornby S4 (on offer at ÂŁ18 inc free shipping for 2). I was spurred in to action when I noticed that Hornby now have an S4 with the aux lights on - I don't know if all 8 are illuminated, suspect not.

A dark wintry night was perfect for a test run.

Still working on the Martini stripes though (almost there!!). If the Hornby car was a Martini one, the T-S cars would probably be left unfinished for ever...
