another alternative can be Cockpit-Xp v2. It is not freeware but for 85 euros you get a really good package for a 4-lane track with lots of possibilities.

I was looking at the ninco N-bridge counter, but its 2 lane.
Is there a timer that is good, relatively low cost and can work up to 4 lanes?
