Layout suggestions for wood routed digital 16'x8'

Hi all,

I'm looking for ideas on my next layout. Although I designed as Scalextric track it will be all wood routed, so the actual curves will be smoother using the routing template, the straights will have broad curves instead of the R4 pieces.

I would also make the hairpin as large as possible to fit so somewhere in between an R1 and R2.

I tried a number of different things and came up with this. I'm just not entirely sure as it seems unconventional, but It has some balance to it. Also trying to keep the center free of problem areas for marshalling, what do you all think?

Removing the sensors is very tricky. I am not aware of any guide on how to split the lane changer board.
There is a thread somewhere here but I was not able to locate it.
Here is the FB page: North BRIS Slots
Get in touch with him directly.
Looks also at the pics of his track: two lanes (with a part on top going to three lanes - if I remember correctly the third lane had a bit more voltage to help overtaking).

Is this it?

Seems relevant, thanks!

Yep, that's exactly what I was looking for. Explains how to split the board. No problem!

yep
This is the relevant post and pics about splitting the board and putting the sensor on leads:
The table expansion is almost done, finished new framing. I decided to keep the diagonal corner edges the same to reuse some of the pieces. So the far side entering the pits has a diagonal cut at 14" from the corner and the side closest to the camera is 16". Overall it's just under 16'x8' with enough clearance for access from all sides. Thinking about cutting the old plywood top into strips for side edges with a 3" retainer wall for stray cars.

Great stuff!
It might be time to start a new thread focus ing on the build, that isnt in the "track plans" subforum.

Good point, I'll do that.
