Has anyone here completed the 24hr version of Le Mans 2000 in real time in the second game from Infogrammes?

Me and my cousin are planning to have a crack this weekend and I was wondering if any of you with experiece have any tips.

We worked out a basic schedule involving double stints at night so the other driver would get more than an hours sleep (hopefully
)

Cheers,
Gary.

I have had the PS2 version for a couple of years now, but have not yet attempted the 24 hour race.

I wish you luck in your attempt, and hope there is not a thunder storm near the end and cause a power cut.

I Haven't played it for a while, so not sure what best tactics to use, but when I did some of the shorter races I filled the tank up and fitted soft tyres. That way the pit stops tend to be shorter as you only have to change tyres. The fuel stops become lesser. It's the refuelling that takes the time up. Also I had the economical engine and geared it for top speed. That Mulsane straight is very long, even with the two chicanes fitted.

At least with the length of the race you can change tactics as you go along and gauge against the other cars. It would be a #*! if you raced for all that time and ended up coming second.

Haha we did the real time Petit Le Mans at RA in prep - came second after running out of fuel!

Proposed Setup:

Balanced (or maybe sprint!) engine - the others seem to pit earlier anyway so if we have that, pit at the same time, but we'll be faster.

Hard Tyers - for me anyway, Andy might go with soft.

Top Speed ratio - I'm with you on needing the speed on mulsanne.

Wankel - I can post here if you desire

This was done by one of the Dreamcast magazines for a special feature, with everything on and I think they finished last but one.

Coop --> Who actually bought it on three formats, PS1 (OK-ish), Sega Dreamcast (the best) and PS2

I got 3 hours into a 4 hour endurance race on Grand Turismo 2 on the PSOne.

Paused to get something to eat, and discovered that my kitchen was on fire. As soon as it spread to electrical appliances the power was tripped....

BUGGER!!!!

Oh well.... Finished it the next day.

I agree over the dreamcast version being the best. I have a dreamcast and a PS2 and a Ps1. I saw the PS2 version and I could see straight away that the dtreamcast version looked a lot better
No I haven't done a 24 hour race.

I did and won in a McLaren. That said, I found you can save at each pit stop so I did it in chuncks, not one 24 hour sitting. Got in the lead after about two hours and then had to concentrate like mad just to give myself a reason to go on. Eventually started lapping to catch backmarkers and race with them for a while.

Got both Dreamcast and PS2 versions, oddly - and sadly - the latter is not so good.

Thanks for the support

We'll be doing it on Hard/Expert levels.

Set-up as above in the Red Audi R8 (as per avatar!)

I may post a little later and let you know what the state of play is.

Hi guys

I'm pretty groggy at 12:26 pm game time, on Lap 332.

We ended up in the yellow Audi #9.

Our current status is P1 with a lead of 1 lap and 45 seconds.

I'll go into more detail tomorow or something.

Hooray! We won the race by 2 laps and 17 seconds. Intrestingly, the last placed Paul Belmondo viper was lapped 41 times.

The balanced engine worked well, giving us an excellent compromise between speed and fuel consumption.

It was a great experience, I'd reccomend any le mans fan to gather mates and have a crack.
