I don't think it's the right place to start this topic, because is't sort of an "event", but I think i'm gonna use the layout from this weekend to make my permanent track in a few months, and you see a control tower being built, so i post this topic here anyway...

A few weeks ago my girfriend told me she had to go on a weekend-trip the first of may with her collegues... I told her I was gonna mis her... but started thinking immediately... "She's gone for the weekend... so I can organise a full-slot-weekend!"... and a big smile came on my face!!!

As soon as I could I made a race-program for the weekend, with endurance races and sprint races. Being a huge fan of touring cars, I based my weekend on the LG Super Racing Weekend (it was this weekend on Magny Cours- France) and I sent this to my friends:

The race weekend was ment to start on friday night, but 651rA couldn't be here, because he had other obligations. There was some good news though... I forgot that allmost everybody is at home at the first of may... because it's an official day off... so we could race more than first expected...

So, friday evening Futse and I went from Gent to Brussels (60km) to shop for a few new cars... Futse needed the new Alfa 147 to race in the Alfa cup, and he wanted a Saleen S7R to join our most recent Le Mans Series. But when we arrived... the shop was closed... So... no cars what so ever...

When we came home we layed out a track that appeered to be our nicest track ever... it was a combo with Ninco, Scalex Classic, and Scalex Sport... and it was approx. 22 meters... It had nice long straights and short and long tricky corners...

When we were racing, Futse's girlfriend was making me a control tower... ain't that a nice friend?

A few pics of the weekend:

The enduraces races we drove were 90 laps with the Le Mans cars... when the cars came out of the slot, we had to run and put em back in... so we had to run quite fast ourselves... we had to find an ideal mix between fast laps and safe laps...

In the Le Mans series 65-75 651rA lost his race in the 88th round... when he had technical problems: a screw popped out of his Ferrari 512... and I took over the lead... He stressed out completely... but that's racing... is't it? Hehe...

An evolution pic of the tower, and... is that a bottle of J&B?

Futse's Caterham in a nice drift:

651rA just lost some human gasses... and everybody ran away... it was just before the start of the DTM... you see the Astra and the CLK lined up on the grid... Thank god he didn't fart during the race!!!

The bad smell went away, and everything came back to normal:

Hi TDI Fahrer,

Really nice your tower ! I wish my wife had the same enthusiasm towards our hobby ...

I went to Freezslot on wednesday evening (18 cars in a go) and I saw the announcement that the shop would be closed on friday. I thought I was quite lucky and indeed I was !

Perfectly acceptable tactic and one that isn't banned in any rule book I've seen! No! Wait! I think something did get added to the Farnham rules

I'm sure if it made a difference in 1/1 racing, MS would have already found the best way of using it as an advantage.

BTW, looks like you had a fun time!

yes it sure looks as if you had a lot of fun - thats the whole point - and the tower is great - you might mention to the young lady that she's becoming world famous on the slotforum for her skill now...

Bliss!

Beer, slots, friends, girlfirend/wife involved...

Nice work.

I did notice the two types of track....

QUESTION: How do you find the transition between Ninco and Scaley Sport?

Any preference? Do some cars take to one more than the other?

Do share!

Best, Ken R

I've heard in a shop that there's a bit of a struggle going'on between Ninco and Scalex about the 'switch part', so for now on (about 2 months ago), the production is almost over (Judge, yes, judge will decide, it's a whole story...). The switchtrack is Ninco and the Scalex crew didn't liked that anyway.... Obvious.....

Well... The track was made out of Ninco, Scalex Sport and Scalex Classic... So in fact... there were three types of track... who made the racing even more fun: Lots of grip on the Ninco parts, a little less on the classics, and much less on the sport-track (see the drifting Caterham...
)...

The only problem we had during the weekend was the connection between Scalex Classic and Sport... on that point, we lost some power... so on the long straight we coulnd't make the speed we wanted to...

Does this answer your question a bit?
