I'm still relatively new carrera digital home racing. I'm sure these 3d printers have infinite capabilities, so what might a home racer use them for? Can they make - say an f type jag - for an existing chassis i have?

Are replacements for non stocked rear wings a feasible option? Got to be expensive, right?

What common slot car parts do slotters order from 3d printer guys? I see mention of chassises. Are these usually replacements or stiffer/looser chassis?

Just trying to understand what I might use these 3d guys for?

I have a PCS32 compatible chassis in inline and sidewinder rear versions and front versions with adjustable axle height blocks, wider track and choice of two guide post to axle distances, wheel inserts and scenery items. Link is in my signature.

Hi all just a question re "3D printable shop" rs200 pikes peak body shells. 1 are they any good & 2 are they jn 1/32 scale? Anybody that knows your help is greatly apreaciated. Regards Bowley.

 

1. They're as good as the person who does the printing
2. None of that sites models are any particular scale. When you ask he says you can print any scale which is as much use as a chocolate poker. So you have to find sizes of actual cars then scale down, if the file has wing mirrors your slicer will see those as the width not the body so you have to remove them in something like MS 3DBuilder to get a body width...there's a lot more faffing about than just printing them.
Same with body thickness, you have to measure it in MS 3DBuilder.

 

Thanx for reply mate. I never knew it so hard. So with a site like 3D printable shop who show the body shells they are not ready to order then. Seems a lot of messing around think ill try some other plan. Thankyou for help bud

 

hi lads I am wanting a body shell from "3D printable shop" an rs200 with pikes peak kit on it. I will get it printed & then remove the aero kit & spray it etc then fit to a chassis etc. has anybody used them before? If so have you any advice, I am using this body instead ofmsc car as i am custom building it & changing so much it is beter to use alloy chassis & after market race parts & have the msc rs200 to compaire it too. My aim is for it to beat an src pug 205T16! Ambitious I know,ill let you know if I win or fail. Thanks regards Bowley

This list was a great idea and could be valuable. I am hoping some/most/all of the printers listed here are watching, as i need a replacement chassis for the Ninco Lola-Ford Indy car (actually two so I have a spare!). So far not finding any listed anywhere else these days, as MRE and TopsSlots n Trains are both gone, none at Pendles nor anywhere in here ins the States either. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I find Olifer offered by Electric Dreams.
National Racers 3D are offered direct.

Any others? I’d like to know if Slot.It will offer their chassis through any shops.

If any of you have used ProSpeed from Shapeways, I managed to get in touch with him and he is seeking a supplier in Holland that might work. His chassis were unique in that many used NSR and Thunderslot set-ups to match cars for certain classes. My Scaley Corvette GT3 with NSR driveline is killer!! The number of US makers is tiny compared to European makers. Interesting, considering the US is the biggest market for hobby, prosumer, and industrial 3D printers. I'm going to assume the hobby is that much bigger in Europe.

 

It is BIGGER in Europe, Spain alone is a big consumer, have you ever wondered why sometimes you cant have those As25 Scaleauto tires or why SRC LMP Porsche and Toyota are hard to find, well most of them stay at Spain and Europe and only a few batchs cross the sea to América, same goes for 3dp , just take a look where are based most of the 3dp chasis and Slot stuff brands (Olifer, Amato, Slotfabrik, etc)…

 

Take a look at the number of 3D chassis that EvoTecShop in Spain stock.

 

Mr Modifier’s Shop on this very forum also has some 3D products (the most established being the SureChange guide) with more being added from time to time.

 

allot of these links are dead due to shapeways going bust but then returning at a later date. Might be worthwhile doing an updated current list? Thanks so much.

I print chassis with Slot.it pod fitment for a wide variety of cars, included Carrera F1 chassis and bodies for 1/32 and 1/24. My set-up board is great for adjusting Slot.it cars.
