Yep, I've been running Scalextric sports track since I got back into slots, still rug racing but eventually I will get it back up to a table and scenery.
I run a variety of car brands, in both 1/32 and1/24 ,new and vintage!
I am a solo racer and have my track setup to run one lane with borders which allows enough room for the 1/24 cars even BRM C class ! With MaxTrax timing on my phone!
Love IT!
Cheers,
John.

Some "purist" love to deride it, but where would slot racing be without Scalextric? 🤔

It's been there in the toy section ever since I can remember! I always wanted a set for Christmas or birthday my parents couldn't afford to pay for a set for my brother's and me so it wasn't until I could afford it myself that I actually got to buy a set but by that time I was getting into motor bikes, cars and girls,so it was short lived!
But now I've got all that out of my system , I have a track and run my car's and enjoy every moment!
It's great!
Cheers,
John.

It was Scalextric that brought most of us into this hobby, it’s given me and many others pleasure over an awful lot of years!

It was Airfix for me. Scalextric was too expensive…….given me lots of pleasure since, however!
One of my first purchases when I restarted in the hobby was the Scalextric Aston Martin DB4GT and Ferrari 250 which my parents couldn’t afford at the time.

Here in the US, I entered into 1:32 scale with Scalextric Sport Track by purchasing a couple sets Tire Wheel Car Motor vehicle Vehicle
. It's been great all the way along. I've done private events, and lot a home racing. I got married, sold my house and my new wife is a big supporter of the hobby. I started out purely analog and later purchased a Digital Platinum set explore modern tech slot car racing. Now with then Arc Pro powerbase I feel it's a great place to be with Scalexctric. I switch between digital and analog at the flip of a switch and can run any brand analog car on my track. I do love the Scalextric brand. I enjoy all types of tracks but know if not for plastic home tracks this hobby would be almost nonexistent.

Scalextric is like every other brand. Great stuff but definitely could use some more information about the USB port on the Arc Pro Powerbase. Since covid there seems to be a pretty big price increase. That is leading me to look at other brands of cars more often than what I've purchased in the past. Though the 2023 Scalextric line up will keep me interested in this brands wares for the foreseeable future. Tire Wheel Car Motor vehicle Vehicle

Growing up, I always speculated that radio control would be even better than slot cars but, when I eventually tried it, I found I didn’t enjoy it so much. Maybe on a proper outdoor club track it would have been fun, but not in a garden or living room.
Digital slot cars with lane changing also looked like they might be an improvement, but I find it just breaks up the flow of the lap, for me. At Gaydon a few years ago, I tried a French digital system (Sillage Racing - they’re on F-book) which did automatic lane changing when you got close to the car in front. I thought this was fantastic, but sadly, it’s never been marketed commercially.
So, for the time being, yes, greatest toy ever invented!

Scalextric brought me back into slot cars in around 2005 - I saw a Lister LMP car and thought it was a diecast, the detail blew me away.

I love slotcars but my vote would be for Lego blocks as the greatest toy ever.

Well Pete, you can combine slotracing with Lego, just search for Modbrix 184102 :)

I believe Scalextric made some cars/chassis that can be used in conjunction with Lego blocks Pete.

I like Scalextric and use their track and some of their older scenery accessories as well as having a large number of their cars and Leyland trucks. For a toy, they have lasted well into adulthood.

My home track has always been Scalextric with their borders and crash barriers. The banked curves went in the bin as soon as I could afford proper flat curves. I still have my classic track Skid Chicane and Le Mans Start in the hope I might get to build a longer track in the distant future should I get more space.

I dabbled in R/C for a few years but returned to slot cars as I prefer them. They are better to look at, use less space and you can build a track to suit your space/needs.
