Hi Cube,
The Slot Classic cars have to be the benchmark cars for finish and detail. I have the Le Mans version of the Mercedes you've shown as well as some others. They are tremendous cars for some spirited "gentleman driving" around your track. They perform like a well-weighted Ninco Classic. No doubt Rail Racer will add his 2 Euros worth of advice as well as I know he's also a bigfan of these cars.
I have a few MMK's but the quality of glass parts (or lack of) and their flat-looking wire wheels lets them down imho. These can be corrected and you will find a thread somewhere here that helps. Take a look at their Porsche 356 if you are considering the LoveSpeed car, its a nice runner and looks good as well. MMK cars perform as well as Slot Classics, I can't say one make is better than another in terms of running. Sorry to disagree Dennis, maybe I've been lucky.
The Porsche is a Proto Slot, a great kit (are you considering kit or RTR?). Running gear is Fly or whatever you choose whereas Slot Classic is their own. You need a donor Fly car usually for running gear as well as interior details so don't forget to cost that in. Shaping some of the vacformed glass parts can be tedious but the result is a hand-made car of very high quality. If you have a little time and some basic tools, do yourself a favour and try a ProtoSlot kit, they are straightfoward to build if you've ever tuned an RTR slot car you wil have enough skills to make one.
Good luck.
