Mag racing. Has anyone tried this system?

Hi
Wondering if anyone has seen or had a try of Mag Racing System.
http://www.magracing.co.uk/car_track_concept.html

The cars are guided basically by a magnet following a steel wire embedded in the track . They can be steered from one side of the track to the other by radio control. Speed is controlled by radio and cars are powered by a single rechargeable Lithium ion cell. Run times are in excess of 10 minutes using a single AAA cell which is inexpensive and quickly recharged.

There is also a video to downlod showing car in action on the track.
Thanks Luka

looking good and i see it can be quit easy to drive.
To be frank, I would like to see it developed further . Todays speed controllers are small and cheap and so are the steering servos. I would like to see this going without the wire, fully driven RC. The technology is allready here.

It looks good but I am sure it will not replace good ol slot car racing...
Stopping every 10minutes to recharge! You gotta be joking! They should dump the Lithium ion cell and use continuous inductive charging. Or by microwave transmission. That shouldn't be too expensive or unsafe, should it?

Thanks for posting. That looks really interesting. Shame the video only showed 1 car, but this is certainly something to keep an eye on.

Like, yes, but a zillion times better executed.

Who would of thought digital would be superseded so quickly.

Hey all,

Is it me or has this not been brought up here once before already

I have tested for a while now.

And I will say I dont only like it! I love it ;-)

This is real racing. You can drive almost 1h with a battery and no chance to give full speed on the controller.
So far I have a small track. but this will be very good. Owertaking, Racing line, and more to come!

Look at the race from OldSlotRacer.

Look here if you want to now more about realistic racing. http://www.magracingforum.com/search.php?s...d=active_topics

I will be trying some MAGracing this coming Sunday.

Looking forward to seeing what it has to offer.
Any chance of posting thoughts/art/video afterwards PR ?
I'm going to try and take some video and pics of it.
Today I order a new 4 cars complete set.

Because of the Reverse facility and for I enjoy driving those cars!

Are all the cars wedge shaped? I took a quick look at the forum and all the cars seemed the same shape. Is this due to the set up? Looks like an awesome system though.

Here's a small portion of the video I took this past Sunday.

I found it to be an interesting diversion to my normal slot car racing. Not sure I'd go out and sell my current slot car stuff and invest in MAGracing at this time. I found the grip levels to be a bit frustrating at times. The cars felt like they were racing on ice at some points and I didn't feel like I was in real control of the car. It was my first time trying this type of racing so maybe some tweaking to the tires would be in order.

It was a little like slot car racing and a little like radio control racing but for me, not as fun as either one.
I think this needs a lot more work before it catches on. The cars look fairly slow and as you say the tyres look awful and controlability looks a bit patchy
Yes, the look of the tyres could be better, the cars run farly slow, very simularar to the real ones!
And they can spin, and Going backwards.

But its very closed to real Racing! And its easy ad cheap.

Try it.
