Mas Slot International. However in the last one I got (the 5th) they announced they were going to bi-monthly rather than monthly. That was 3 months ago and looking on SpHobbies it does not even seem a spanish mas slot has come out since.

Anyone got any more info?

Magazines,

The Spanish magazines GSR and Mas Slot have english speaking versions. They are both really nice - personally I think they are written with a fanstastically enthusiastic attitude - would make anyone happy...

Otherwise you have the US magazine 'Model Car Racing' it is taking it self noticably more seriously, but is quite alright to read.

Then ofcourse you have the UK publication 'Model Slot Car' this is not as glossy as the others but the editorials are often written with a cheeky attitude and is a pleasant read.

Personally I think you get a lot for your money if you take one of the spanish ones. But I would not recommend anything else than that you get yourself a copy of each and then decide what suits your taste etc.

You can get these magazines from both Pendleslot and MRE. It is definitively worth trying them out at least once before commiting to subscription...

Personally, I find 'Model Slot Car' totally baffling. It is barely readable, all the photos are madly distorted, and it seems really to be a 'mates club'. If you don't know the personalities involved, you're not going to get far with it. No offence to all concerned, and I bet they're real nice people to talk to in the pub. I agree, the attitude is an agreeably humourous one, but in the end I get little from it. This Forum is itself the very best way to get information about the hobby, I reckon. I don't know what you would get from any mag that isn't here already. Are the days of Slot Car mags numbered.... again? A shame maybe, as I love to browse old copies of classic issues of Model Cars, Miniature Auto, Car Model, Model Car Science......

I have subscribed to Model Car Racing, NSCC Newsletter and Mas Slot International. I even have a few of the MiniAuto yearly reviews. The last named is easily the best hard copy publication in my opinion.

That said, I think none are better than SlotForum. The news is faster and more comprehensive. The pictures are in colour and it is free. Finally, the letters page (i.e. the forum) is bigger, more comprehensive and interactive than any paper based publication could ever hope to offer

The only downside it might have is product testing. You cannot turn on SlotForum and see detailed reviews of all the news cars as they happen, but you cannot do that anywhere as far as I can see.

Now, no one is doing this for a living so everything is squeezed into people's free time. That matters more on product tests than anything else, especially with the rate of new releases. Having a consistent test format is not easy to devise and even harder to stick to with many people potentially proving reviews.

Yes, this is a big hint. If you have bought a new car then why not do a review. Nuro will send you the format. If more than one person reviews the same car so much the better - we get varied opinions. I will add quickly, no one should be seeking to get models free on eth basis of doing reviews for SlotForum, but we all buy many cars so there really is no need to blag them.

So, Slot Forum is the best slot car magazine and it is up to all of us to make it even better.

Scott

I think Car-On-Line is the best magazine but only if you read German, I have written for most of the magazines including COL.

I agree that SlotForum is a tremendous resource - better than any mag

Also for online browsing, I think The Vintage Slot Racing Newsletter deserves an honourable mention:

VSRN-ONLINE

There's some fabulous stuff on there - including magazine covers to remind you of all those great '60s slot car mags you threw away

Well worth a look imo
