Thanks Jim, sorted my end.

In fairness to Tony, it is just as likely to be a typo on my part - I was pushed for time when I did those classes.

What with Carp F! that wasn't even correct anyway,

I didn't have much luck with those picks.

Just to say we had a good nights racing on Monday, one class each was won by Tony and Peter, Jim won four including a full house. Jim won the evening with 151 with Peter runner up with 140. I won the clubmans.

Don't forget the Farnham challenge night tonight at Milland, meanwhile the scores are here.

Keith got the new year and classes of to a good start for him, as he won the first class of round 6, Hornby WRC with 33, Peter was a point behind.

Carrera GT saw Jim take the winning 33 while Peter was again runner up with 32.

The winning scores were just the same in Rubbish F1 class.

At the break we got to sample some very nice cake furnished by Tim, for no reason other than his wife bought it. Whatever, it means that Tim is welcome to come along again. At this stage Peter was only slightly ahead of Jim.

For the 4th class in a row Peter scored another 32. But this time 32 was enough for a win, with Jim runner up with 28.

Open Classic was a Peter whitewash as he clocked a full 36, Such was Peters dominance that the equal runners up of Jim could only manage 24 each.

At the end it was a comfortable win for Peter on 164 followed by Jim on 139. Next round is on the 22nd.

MFR results.

Round 7 had 9 racers who also picked the next classes - see below.

It should have been a 36 for Jim in Hornby WRC, but it was not to be and he had to contend with a mere but winning 35. Tony was last with 11. I had been lent a Peugeot by Jason, it had a curious 4wd system as it was a front wheel drive with rubber band transfer to the rear wheels. It was not fast but it was very forgiving, even in my unskilled hands it managed two second places and a good score (for me) of 21.

Jim also won Carrera GT with 34. I was running something yellow from Tony's shelf, it was a dog, till Wes and I discovered it had the wrong rear tyres, these were a loose sideways fit and had slid inwards to fowl the drive pinion and chassis, They could be slide outwards and happily stayed in place, this cured the odd crazy deceleration leaving me to drive it sensibly or suffer the usual Carrerra de-slot roulette outrage. Thus sorted it proved a handy gatherer of points.

Tony also supplied my Sad F1, this had completely out of shape front tyres, the vibration caused some awesome de slots and even caused the spoiler to fall off. Tony took pity on me and found some front tyres that were round, it then proved almost drivable, but the damage had been done and I equalled the nights lowest score of 10. Peter got the win with the nights only full house.

95 at the break saw Peter in the lead with Jim 2 behind. Bearing in mind my difficulties I was surprised to find myself not last. We did the picks for the next classes, see below.

Wes was flying in Fly classic to take an equal win with Jim with 30 each.

Open Classic saw Peter in charge winning with 35. Tim was hot and even won a race by skill and pace alone, he was well chuffed and perhaps we should have congratulated him rather than taking the rib, he also came 2nd in class with 26.. So well done Tim.

A win for Peter with 155, Jim was 5 points away. Tim's efforts paid off and with 94 he took the nights Clubman crown.

Next round is on Feb 19th, here are the MFR results.

Picks for part 1 of the 2018 first series are:

Hornby GT

Junior Rally

Hornby Rally

SCX F1

Open Wheel Open

I don't remember Hornby rally being picked but then I can't remember what was instead.

Don't remember being behind at teabreak either.

Do you think I'm losing it?

Tis not you Jim, it is me that is losing it - but everyone knows that anyway. Sentence should have read:

97 at the break saw Jim in the lead with Peter 2 behind.

As for that first class pick, the scribble clearly says "Hornby GT".

Yes the first class pick was Hornby GT - or Hornby crap GT to be more precise - but it was Hornby rally that I didn't recall.

It just came to me - Hornby Muscle - because I pointed out it was quite handy as we have them on Thursday soon too.

I remember you saying that about them being on Thursday night as well. I did put Hornby Muscle on the web site, but at the time I put it on here I was multi tasking. (Multi tasking means: Trying to do more than one thing at a time and messing up the whole sheebang.)

If you get the feeling you have read this somewhere else, you may have done as I put this report in the wrong thread:

With just two rounds left and the champ winner in the balance, would it be Jim or could it be Peter? Round 9 might be the decider or would we have to wait till the final round?

Jim wasted no time in the first class, Scallex Rally, declaring his intention with a full house win, Peter finished level runner up with Keith both with 26. For Jason it was the class from hell as he clocked just 8, thankfully for him things then got a lot better. Jason has been generously lending me his spare car, one of those 4WDs which is a front drive with rear transfer via bands, it may not be the fastest bit of kit but I find it most forgiving to drive, a bit like a SCX GT, it lets you do silly things without coming off, I was actually disappointed with my 23 points, as I should have done better.

It was another 36 for Jim in Carrera GT with Peter a painful 8 points adrift. For Dave he was heading for disaster until near the end of the class we spotted he was running with the weight slid right to the rear, in his last race he clocked a useful 4.

Cráp F1 is always a roulette class and so Jim, despite more wins than anyone else only finished 3rd with 25, 3 points behind Peter and Keith who shared the win.

At the break it was Jim's to lose as a healthy 97 had him 33 points ahead of Peter. I was pleasantly surprised to find myself 10 points ahead of Tony. In honour of my impending birthday I had brought some cakes along all the way from a village bakery in Devon, good job I hadn't come from Cornwall other wise I would have had to say "let them eat pasties". We had some chat about the eventful 12 hour charity day, where Jim sabotaged his own teams car which made Wes look around for some toys to throw about and later there was a strawberry yogurt outrage. Apparently the team I would have been in won and our team of newbies did amazingly well, I think there will be a report on the day elsewhere soon.

Peter had his worst class in Fly Classic with 23, beaten again by Jim with with 30 and the winner Tony with 33. Dave matched the nights lowest with 8.

In Open classic Peter could not have done more with a full house win but even with a quick Tim mopping up most of the other points Jim would have had to really try to lose the night and he finished the class equal with me with 23.

I had deployed Sandy's red Alfa and despite being down on speed and cornering against Open opposition it, yet again, netted me some useful points.

So it's a big well done to Jim for another round win and a Championship victory, as it seems Peter cannot make up the short fall in the final round. A win in the clubmans class means I have the clubman championship in the bag.

The maths is on line here. Final round is on March 5th.

The final round and the winners spot still up for grabs by Peter or Jim. We welcomed a new member, Luke from Petersfield, he found us on the internet - Welcome to the club Luke.

Scores had a 1 single point error, but it did not affect the outcome, though Luke did lose a point.

Just to show there are more winners than just Peter and Jim, Keith won Hornby WRC with a convincing 35, for him things could only get worse which they did. Peter was best of the rest with 28. I was using Jason's 4WD Peugeot, it is very forgiving and gets me points because of that, but it cannot get over the yoghurt outrage and made heavy weather of the blue lane, many thanks Jason.

Jim's 34 in Carrera GT was a 6 point win over Peter. This class are different to drive and many people will be glad to see the back of them, I don't mind them which is strange as they get me very few points.,

Cráp F1, is another hate class of many, The kitchen cupboard has nothing to offer but sadness and I have always been astonished at how well I have done. And the class winner was Peter with 33, Wes got in on the act with a 2nd place with 31, despite a couple of 5s' Jim could only total 17 and was beaten by everyone except Luke and TONY ?? !

So at the break Peter was looking good with 89, Wes was 2nd with 80 and Keith 3rd with 79, Jim was not where he needed to be to take the championship, one of the 2 remaining classes was the open class, a Peter speciality. Talk was of Luke's job near Petworth, and Tim's dirty away trip to Maidstone.

Peter continued to bang in the nails with a win with 35 in Fly Classic, Tony suddenly came into play with a runner ups 29, well clear of everyone else including Jim who was beaten again by Wes. It must be said that by this stage Wes had taken his Alonso strategy to a new level with "Ooh dear, I have not brought my correct cars, may I borrow one of your winning cars Peter?" All in all it wasn't looking good for Jim's hopes of winning the championship.

Not sure what happened with Keith in the Open Classic, but he slumped to 10, the nights lowest score. Peter won as predicted with 33 followed by Jim with 30, would this be enough to beat his other challengers?

So another night's racing won by Peter with 157, Jim was second with 129 which meant that he won the Championship - well done Jim. I managed to win the clubmans on the night and the series by a healthy margin over Tim who had racing much better of late, although thankfully for me more on Thursdays. Clubmans class is filling up as the last four series have been won by different racers, this means that Tim, Jason and myself are all well placed to get an upgrade at the end of the next series.

The new series starts on the 19th, meanwhile you can find out much more about scores, points and classes on line on the Bolwextric site.

Good try Will!

Trying a different tactic - but I got it straight away.

Tim's dirty trip is Margate, not Maidstone.

It was the start of new classes on Monday when we started the first series of classes for 2018. We started with a healthy 9 racers, but we were later all very worried about Dave who had to leave early as he had excruciating pain in his arm. He is waiting for an operation and after that we will not see him for several weeks - we wish all the very best.

Jim got off to a good start with the new classes with a winning 32, Tony was a couple of points behind. I have no cars that match these new classes so I pretty pleased to get a useful 24 with a F40 that I got from a party draw.

I had the pick of two Saxo for Junior Rally class, using the best gave me an unbelievable 28 and that was all with good honest 4s and 5s. Finishing ahead of me was Tony on 31 followed by Jim with 29.

SCX F1 saw the 3rd different winner of the night with Keith clocking 32. Tony was runner up with 28, my choice off the pit lane scored me 26, good enough to get me 3rd place.

At the break Tony was just out in the lead with 89, with Jim 4 points away. There was talk of a racing meeting that had been at Goodwood on Sunday, and Tim was getting very excited about his car to be used in the Open Open wheeler class, he had high hopes as he had done EVERYTHING to it.

Hornby Muscle saw some very close racing and another win for Tony with 31, Jim was best of the rest with 29.

It was a win for Tim in the first race of Open Open Wheel class, he was visibly over excited and set himself up as a target as the one to beat, this meant that in every race he was being asked all sorts of questions to try and distract him, although he had another win he ended up far from class best, though it was by far his best class. After some more close racing Tony won with 29, and Jim 2 behind. Although the Party car I had found was perfectly serviceable, it was well outclassed by the open opposition and despite a very lucky win I had my worst class.

It was Tony that won the first night of the series with 149, with Jim runner up on 141, Keith was 3rd with 123 and I was surprised and chuffed with my 120 giving me 4th overall and best Clubman.

Next round is not until April 16th, this is due to Easter outrage. MFR results.

7 of us got another enjoyable nights competitive racing. Keith was unable to attend, hopefully we will see him back next round.

Tony got off to a good start winning Hornby GT with 33 way ahead of anyone else. Wes and I were drawn next to one another and with the way our cars performed got down to another evening of close races, some of his cars are not that quick so when get something decent out of a party draw, the sparks fly.

In Junior Rally class Wes and I were evenly matched and every race was a titanic struggle to see not only the best of the two of us but also which of us would win the race. After all the dust and shouting had died down we had, in fact, tied to win the class with 29 for each of us. Tony didn't continue his good form as he was last in class with one of the nights lowest scores.

Starting with 3 wins in a row Tony reversed his fortunes and went on to win SCX F1 with 32, Wes had the edge over me but I lucked in to a win in my last race which gave me a slight advantage in the class.

At break, Mr consistency Moyes had somehow sneaked himself into a decent lead with 83, Tony, then me, then Wes trailed behind.

Hornby Muscle was my bogey class, my party car was actually OK but this tempted me to go for wins and I lost loads in the ensuing carnage. Wes kept it steady and with one class to go we were just a point apart. Tony took the class with 33 and Jim was two behind him.

Open Wheel Open and Tim was the one to beat as he tried to make up some ground and maybe overhaul Wes and I. Despite deftly ignoring or deflecting a barrage of verbal distractions he could not repeat his previous success and finished in 4th place. Despite 4 wins Tony failed to take the class finishing with 27, 3 behind the winner Jim. Wes finished with a flourish to beat me in this class by 10 points - DOH!

Another round won by Jim with 144, Tony was not that far away with 136. Tim couldn't quite catch me to take the Clubmans which I just managed to win with 104. A great nights racing of a type hopefully be repeated. Next round will be on the 30th, meanwhile to scores are here.
