In association with Manx Slot Car Club, SlotrallyGB is proud to announce the third round of the championship will take place over the weekend of 21st & 22nd April 2012 at the Glen Helen Inn Isle of Man.

This is a weekend (two day) event with rallying on the Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning. It will also feature some night stages run as a seperate competition over 3 stages with the winner taking the car! We plan to have a social meal at the venue on the Saturday evening.

Stages will be a mixture of Ninco, SCX, Scalextric and routed tracks. Dave Capelen and his fellow club members put on a fantastic event last year with a great relaxed atmosphere. The hotel venue is superb with an excellent bar and great food at very reasonable prices.

Obviously this is a long haul event for most of us, but travel costs and accommodation are not too expensive. Below are a few useful links for travel;

Isle of Mann Airport web site

Web link to airlines who fly to/from.

In addition to flying you may wish to drive and cross via the ferry. Isle of Man Steam Packet Company

As an option, I'm also considering organising a group travel mini bus. Fairly simple concept of hiring a 15 seater mini bus from the Surrey area, driving via Wales, Midlands and Liverpool and then crossing on the ferry. Exact details will need to be trashed out, but expected travel costs would be in the region of £120 per person based on ten traveling together. To help see if this is a workable option could you add a note in your application to attend a note if you are interested. It's probably best to assume traveling on the Friday and Monday. If anyone has access to a cheap/free minibus - let me know.

Accommodation should be booked directly with the venue;

Glen Helen Inn, Glen Helen, Isle of Man (http://www.glenheleninn.com)
Tel: Kate, on 01624-666186

Single rooms £40 per night B&B
Double rooms £55 per night B&B
Twin Rooms £55 per night B&B

Mention Slot Rally when you make the booking.

Hi folks

Including Chris Angold, who's not listed as yet, we have 12 entries so far.

I expect we will have another 10 or so from the local guys at the Manx Slot Car Club, following our club-night tomorrow.

I was hoping for more interest from outside our shores this year, but so far we have only 3...!

Come on chaps, where are you?

We moved the event back in the calendar nearly 3 months so you could take advantage of the better transport links in April.

If the entry list does not fill up completely, we will take proxy entries, although of course they will be non points-scoring.

Cheers
Dave

Hi Phil

Gareth was hoping to organise a minibus....but I thought Russell was coming? Also Phil Field had previously intimated he was going to attend?

Cheers
Dave
Hi Phil

Gareth mentioned the possibility in post #1. Not sure where he's up to with that, no doubt he'll let us know.

Cheers
Dave
Hi Phil

QUOTE a very kind bloke picked us up at the port.

I'll have a quiet word with him and see if he can manage it again - unless you are travelling with Martyn, in which case you'll already have a lift to the Glen Helen.

Cheers
Dave
OK Martyn, see you guys next Sunday to finalise details. Cheers, Dave
Hi Chris

As the man who has nearly everything, I have some grey paint, will bring along tomorrow night.

Hi guys

The "Druidale" stage will be made up on Saturday morning - I have a few ideas, but until we see what space is left, I won't be able to design it. However, it won' t be the same as last year....

Hopefully there will be borders around most of the corners this year!

Cheers
Dave

Hi Phil

You're on the "Mannanin" from Heysham then, so your scheduled journey time is only 2 hours...!

Weather is:-

"....A mainly bright day with sunny spells. Winds 3-4. Outlook: Mostly dry and quiet over the weekend, with sunny intervals and just a few scattered showers...."

So the Guinness forecast is steady as she goes....

May not be so quiet in the function room at the Glen Helen though...!

I am tied up until about 3-ish, so if you want grab a coffee in Costa Coffee in the Sea Terminal when you've got your luggage, I will come and pick you up. Let me know when you have your luggage.

Cheers
Dave

Hi guys

I have just PM'd Martin with Andi's contact details as he is arriving Saturday morning and Andi can pick him up.

Cheers
Dave
Andi

We'll have to start around lunchtime Saturday, no later than noon to 1pm, as we have the Night Stages to get through as well before the meal at 7:30pm.

On Sunday, I think we should go for 9:00 am quick service and then start at 9:30.

Cheers
Dave
QUOTE Multi-Denominational service?

I thought a quick prayer that my cars would last out the second day might be appropriate...!

Cheers
Dave

Morning all

PC set up at the Glen Helen so we can do updates during the day.

One track built, one nearly built, Andi's is also here, so good progress in the first hour.
