HI
QuestionI never seen any advertising here in the States, who does the mayor companies
make a living if they never expose the sport (hobby) through advertising?
Does companies in Europe advertise a lot? Or is there just a lot of old folks out there that
are nostalic about their childhood, and spend all they time surfing the Internet looking for slotcar? Sorry ran out of wine......I'b right back......

An interesting point,

i have spotted the occasional TV advert around christmas time for scalextric, and have seen adverts in MOTORSPORT magazine for Revell.

It may be possible that i have seen Carrera adverts, but i am not sure, might have been in model-car press/media.

I had never heard of SCX, Ninco, and Fly untill i joined a slot-car club, (Oxford)

maybe they are advertised more in Spain?

Paul.

I don't see many US publications, but I know there used to be regular ads and features in RACER magazine (no not the Hornby club effort, a proper full-colour monthly mag about racing) so I am sure there were others too.

Mass marketing is simply too expensive for a slot car maker - and largely useless. Much better to target enthusiasts through specialist titles and use the internet like mad.

Best piece of US marketing has been all the US cars (Carrera & Hornby mostly).
