I have been quite insipired by the great comments recieved in the TR 4 posting so I have built an Airfix MGB and taken it to the same point as the TR 4.

Any and all comments/questions are more than welcome.

Thanks for looking.

Thanks to all that have veiwed this thread and posted a comment. I very much appreciate it!

Chris (Belkris), thanks for your comments, I'll try to take some additional photos of this chassis. It is the same configuration as the chassis I made for the TR 4 with the wheel base specific to the MGB.

The motor is the same as "Dr. Vanski's" ff motor. It has a performance similar to an NC-1.

Simon (SpliltRim), thanks for your comments. No problem calling me Kit! Most of my friends call me that as it is my last name and have called me that since primary school!

I am glad that this project has inspired you to complete your MGB. Don't forget to post your work as I'm sure there are many on the forum, in addition to myself, who would love to see it.

Thanks again to all who have contributed to this thread. It really does help motivate me to complete this project.

rmcclure, thank you very much for your post.

The MGB kit was not too badly twisted but was certainly not perfectly square and required some work.

The wheels, inserts and tires I make myself and work very well. I tried to make them look good. The wire inserts are Ninco spoke wheels turned down and cast in resin.

The paint should be done soon, right now I have some other work to complete, after which I plan to spend some more time on the car.

Thanks

Peter, great work on the MGBs!

I only have the later Airfix castings, and it seems that the company certainly re-cooped the amortization of the molds to say the least.

But still, it is to scale and a great platform for building.

Thanks for your posting as I was wondering what to do with the grill supplied with the kit as it needs quite a bit of work.

I had some time to paint the MGB. I thought that British Racing Green would be an appropriate colour.

This car was sitting unfinished so I thought I would do some work on it.

I am just getting back into the swing of things after some surgery so it felt good to do some slot car work.

Thanks for looking

Mike, thanks so much for your wonderful comments in your post.

The Airfix body is better than I thought it would be, but the front grill is not of much use.

I thought that I would get some decals on the car and a clear coat.

Here are some photos of the car so far on the track:

The next step is to sculpt a driver. My wife has asked for this to be her "club racer" to go against our daughter's TR-4 and "my" TR-4 so I will be creating a female figure to put in the driver's seat.

Thanks again for the great contributions to this thread and thanks for looking.

I know its about time, but I got around to completing the MGB race car for my wife!

Here are some photos of the female driver I did for her car and some photos of the finished car with the TR-4 race cars that it will be "competing" against:

Any and all comments are more than welcomed!

Thanks
