These sets have never been £79.99

When have anyone ever seen a Micro set for then £50?!
£29.99 has always been the correct price, it's a legal way of false advertising imo, the supermarkets do it, and so does Modelzone.

Support your local model shop...?

Have you checked your local model shop?
My point is, it would have been the same price elsewhere, without trying to kid you it 'was' twice the price, and you buying into it

QUOTE (diesel @ 6 Nov 2011, 23:05) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Sad thing is the manufacturers are doing just as much damage to local model shops. I believe the Sainsburys set (as with the Tesco one) are store exclusives. Micro Scalextric also currently have exclusive Cars 2 sets with Toys R Us and Argos. And don't forget every other set used to be a Woolworths exclusive.
You're right, just tell Scalextric marketing that.

Scalextric want the supermarkets to sell their sets because people shop there rather than the local shops, and there is greater exposure.
More is available from the supermarkets, so people shop there more.
Said public then moan about the lack of local shops.
It's catch 22 really.
