Many drivers are forced to take up odd jobs in support of their racing but not many had to resort to becoming a Banana Salesman! Who was this Mille Miglia champion?

And here's a BIG hint: One year he attempted to build his own car for the race whose motor was based on 8 Norton motorcycle engines!

Drat I made it too easy. So what gave it up? The Bananas or the 8 Norton engines?

No I don't. I need to get a good book on the Traga Florio. Most of my stuff is on Grand Prix racing and less so the sports cars.

As you should be able to tell by my name (Dr.Etceterini), I'm an "etceterini" (and therefore, MM and Targa) nut. The 8 Norton engines and not the bananas gave it away. There is a picture of the car in the book La Sport E I Suoi Artigiani 1937-1965.

The best Targa Florio book I have found (although it covers only the Giro and not all of the races) is: Il Mitico Giro di Sicilia, published by Nada
