Hello!

I have loaned out my camera out, one picture I can re-post from the archive, a Mini Bangers Set!

Hopefully will be able to post my other Mini's soon.

A few months back, I bought one of Hornby's new Classic Mini offerings. Whilst undoubtedly it looks pretty good, the motor is crazy! It is such a shame, since it is way too over powered; both with and without the magnet? With the magnet in place, it looked ridiculous! Without the magnet, the car felt like it was driving me, because you could only just touch the throttle and hope it didn't:

A. Drive over a bump
B. Encounter a bend
C. Burst into flames

Hi there Jam..

I have been into Minis for many years now, Slotcars and full size..

Here are a few of my own Slotcar "Mini" scratchbuilds and conversions you might like to see.
These show another side to slotcars, All in 1:32 scale.
Plus a few Ready to Runs in my collection..
Hope you like them..

All the best.. Martin.

Scalextric "Italian Job" Mini set.

Scalextric based "Mini Limo"... Front half and rear half joined together.

Mini "Convertible" conversion.

Early Scalextric body based scratchbuilt 60s Mk1 Mini, with Brass Scratchbuilt chassis.

I do have some others, If you would like to see them as well please let me know.... Martin.

Hi there Kev and Jam1234..

As you say... Hopefully Pete (Scudbong) sees this thread, and posts some of his own Minis.

I do have some more early Minis as well, RTR and scratchbuilt/conversions, but no photos to post at the moment..

Over the next few days I will take some photos of them to post.

All the best.. Martin.

Nice collection Jam

Martin, please post more of yours, always love seeing your creations. You should start a thread or blog with all your builds.

Not a classic Mini, they're still holed away in the loft until I get back to the hobby full time, but here's a BMW JCW Cooper version I had a go at a while back,

still not running so no interior yet.

QUOTE (scaleslotcars @ 9 Feb 2012, 15:59) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Here's something I did for the Bordeaux vintage meeting a couple of years ago. The Downton Twinni Mini
Body was a modified Airfix and chassis 4WD with two 'K's motors.
Having tried that round the Bordeaux Carrera track myself I can confirm it drove really well

Won concours I think but you didn't put enough laps in to win overall

Suppose it's sold now?

Yes Eddie it did win concours (going for my fourth in a row in 1/32 this year
) also won a special cup in remembrance of one of the Bordeaux club members, but as you say due to a lack of laps, mainly down to my bad driving, did not win overall.
Yes, now sold and living in Spain!

p.s. the chassis was said to have originally been built by Gordon Murray but I was never able to validate this.

Hi there Phil, hope you are keeping well..

I like the Mini with the two motors, very different.
Could you please tell me if the wheels are plastic, or alloy with resin inserts, and who made them, plus the tyres you used, as they look great.
Thank you..

All the best.. Martin.
