Missing from Slot Racing?

So what cars do you think are missing from the slot racing world? Even more helpful, what cars do you think the manufacturers could make that would help THEM sell more & promote the hobby better?

In the US, I hear complaints from people in the "WOMP" world, and some of the less educated about the 1:32 "plastic" world retailers, talk about the lack of updated NASCAR liveries. NASCAR is a 'league' in which there are stronger driver/brand bonds than any other league or even sport. These rabid fans (not ALL are ********, just most!) are lethal when it comes to debating their favorites. Having Scalextric (or others) keep a continued update on cars, and expand their lineup would be amazing. The diecast industry for NASCAR is HUGE over here, and when it comes to "one off's" for special one race only liveries, the demand gets even stronger. There has been some great custom work done to replicate some current cars using some of the Scalextric plain white cars, but they could make a killing doing it themselves.

The other group that would be a huge hit in the US, especially with the younger crowd.. 8-18+, is the "Fast and the Furious" type cars. Either give them some great cars out of the box, or give them some basic cars, then sell add-on rims, exhaust, engine hop-ups, etc, just like in the real "street racing" scene. The money to be made on this market seems too much too pass up.

So what do you guys think?

Hi Pupkick,

I'm not sure whether my suggestions would be quite fitting in the grand scheme of things!

Lancia S4 - Would be an interesting model, one of the most brutal cars ever to exist. Nice to be modelled with all the engine detail, flailing mud flaps etc, perhaps a rear sidewinder set up.

Old F1 cars including racing cars modelled on famous F1 drivers, Any of Gilles Villeneuve's Ferrari's (a driver sadly forgotten in the Slot car world.) - No magnet necessary.

Stewart/Cevert Tyrell like Beardog's wonderful example (70's F1's are personal favourites
) The VMG F1 cars don't do anything for me, they just look well odd.

Jim Clark etc or any Lotus, both names ignored by the Slot Car World.

BMW M1 BASF Livery, Warhol Art Car etc - A great one for Fly, sitting well with the Capri etc.

I see your thinking with reference to NASCAR's, and agree that it would be nice to see Scalextric produce some new models to compliment & improve upon the existing range. Personally, not sure whether this years ASCAR's were a good move, an imitation of the real deal in my mind.

Fast & Furious - I kind of agree, however I suppose Autoart are to be producing the nearest type of Street racers... ok perhaps not.

Someone mentioned producing 'hop up' parts a while back, low profile wheels, spoilers etc... Would tie in nicely with the above range. Shame current optional extra's are primarily designed for performance & not looks. I want chrome, etched metal bits, phat exhausts etc etc...

Best regards,

Jamie
