More Airfix Beetles

This is what happens when passion gets out of hand. A clutch of Airfix Beetles on PCS chassis. Despite appearances no two are the same, and all have different characteristics on track. Fun to build but tricky in parts. Thank you again for your time in looking.

Glad to hear (or read) you feel better Laurence, I’m sure you’ll be home soon, don’t worry about the Mess as it will take care of itself, plus Gandhi and the Dragons will keep everything in order😉

Best wishes mate, take care.

Thanks, Daniel. Most kind of you. And my grateful thanks to everyone else for your wonderful messages of support. Life to change for me from now on. No more wild pole-dancing parties, booze limited to one bottle of 'vintage' before breakfast, and chips strictly limited to just four meals per day.

Everything in moderation is acceptable, apparently. Four new Beetles per month, then. Seems reasonable to me.

A fellow patient lent me a copy of Classic Cars magazine earlier today. The photo below is the only thing I could find in it of interest. Abject boredom, for which I apologise, has led to reproducing it here.

Maybe ask if the Dr can prescribe Airfix Beetles and Slot cars to reduce blood pressure.

Good idea, Matthew, but anything to do with slot cars was banned by Mrs Grumpy a week ago. I'm on best behaviour, apparently, but I can't guarantee it'll last much longer.

Thanks, Bill. Glad you're here. I'm on the brink of leaving my cardio incarceration for home, and a fresh pair of odd socks. Hope to resume normal service very soon. My rediscovery of food can't come soon enough. Healthy chips at the Mess. Jus' the job.

MM, I'm not sure your sig is that appropriate at the moment 😄 , although I'm sure Laurence will see the funny side while trying not laugh too much🤣

Agreed, hospital food is horrible, so with some luck you’ll be in home in no time, sharing some chips and a glass of red wine with Gandhi and the rest of the Mess(red wine is good for the heart aint it?)😉

Awwww, c'mon guys. Ya gotta visit H0 from time to time. The premise of Model Murdering, and the sig actually refers to the many Aurora slot bodies that gave their mortal souls to restore those that could be saved. Admittedly, I'm pretty free with the cutlery. If I spelled it out, there would be no morbidly humorous edge. giggle

Other than my piddies on occasion, no humans are injured, physically. As for any mental or emotional trauma, everyone's mom warned them about avoiding guys like me.

I just did a week of medical incarceration in July. In retrospect a good thing. With the recent upheaval of one's life fresh in my mind, my heart and stomach go out to our dear friend.

Sorry about the Vette Lawrence, some where, on a long lost disc, I restored a pulverized beetle in my Jurassic period.

Some people give themselves a title that has very little meaning (like mine). Bill's earned his title, and is one of the best restoration guys I've ever seen.

Nice Vette, Bill!
Ah, chaps! Wonderful. Thanks for the 'Vette, Bill. Always interested in other scales and other people's passions. Always something to learn. And welcome all Grumpies to this thread. It's a good place for moaning, which I'll especially enjoy after a week of hospital food, and dictatorial (but life-saving) medical staff.

Now back at home, I thank each and every one of you for your support, and messages of great encouragement. You've all been a beacon of inspiration during my recovery. With luck, we can now resume normality and return to the important things - Beetles, Porsches and even 'Vettes.

Thank you all - most sincerely - again!

Thank you, Ken. Most kind. Not only home but home to a new project. You'd never believe it, but there was an Airfix Beetle waiting for me. Whodathought? A new project to be done when warmer weather arrives.

Herefordshire wet, cold and breezy today, but I care not. It's nice to be vertical and above ground.

So true, Bill. Thanks for the vid. Had very good intentions today but, after a most disagreeable luncheon of pills, rabbit food, more pills and one mug of tea, I promptly dropped awf to sleep and have only just emerged back into the real world.

Tomorrow, however, work on the Pink-Kar Beetle will resume and, as Easter promises to bring better weather, I hope to start the first 909. Oh, and then there's always the latest Airfix Beetle... Coo. It never stops for which I'm most grateful. That Yellow Brick Road, eh?

Glad to here your home Laurence, just remember when things go wrong just walk away and leave it to the little people from the mess to sort out.

MM all comments very tongue in cheek, it was the first time I had noticed your sig and saw the funny side of it in this thread and just had to laugh. Never looked at the HO forum but guessed what it referred to from your username.

Very good news to hear you are home once again Laurence.
I do hope you were released/discharged and it wasn't a case of you escaping (although I wouldn't blame you if you had of done, as anything more than 7 days medical "incarceration" would drive me potty), as you will incur the wrath of both Mrs. Grumpy as well as your Consultant.

Here's to your good health, more beetles, and unlimited/indefinite slotting.

Cheers
Martin

Many thanks Keith and Martin. Most kind of you. Life very slowly returning to something approaching normality. A few days of freedom, too, from this weekend. Mrs Grumpy awf to the Netherlands for a holiday, so there'll be no one to moan at me for wearing non-matching socks, threadbare jackets and my fave jumper with the gigantic rip across the shoulder.

I can also get on with sundry slot projects, sneak a new slot car onto the Mess without the usual inquisition and drive to Abergavenny for long overdue bottles of Mother France's Ruin. In all things are looking up. Even the cat appears to be relaxed and happy. A toast to everyone's good health is in order but, alas, not until Sunday when Mrs Grumpy can't possibly hear the sound of corks popping.

My thanks again, chaps.

I remember having as many as 5 pairs of odd socks at one time but can not for the life of me remember either buying them or receiving them as a gift (their number also used to increase or decrease seemingly at will and usually around laundry day!).

Try a subtle hint to Mrs. Grumpy that you are in need of a replenishment of your sock drawer, due to it being full of multiple pairs of odd socks, and the only acceptable replacements are 10 pairs of the following:

vw-beetle-yellow-socks

This will "kill two birds with one stone" so to speak - solving the current odd sock issue as well as removing any future possibility of noticeable oddities occuring ever again.....mix away as no one will ever know!!
