More Airfix Beetles

This is what happens when passion gets out of hand. A clutch of Airfix Beetles on PCS chassis. Despite appearances no two are the same, and all have different characteristics on track. Fun to build but tricky in parts. Thank you again for your time in looking.

Daniel

Each Airfix VW kit is supplied with a choice of three registration/licence plates. One reads WTW, which is close to the modern abbreviation, WTF.

WTF is short for a popular modern epithet (What The F***?), which I hear regularly when my step-daughter visits, uttered by Mrs Grumpy upon those occasions when an Airfix Beetle arrives by post, and during Mrs Grumpy's unofficial commentary upon modern F1 races broadcast on the (electric!) televisual thing.

Hope this explanation helps.
Nowdays kids play with license plate numbers in the racing games such as GT, Forza, etc, of course , administration bans those who use political incorrectness or bad words, kids eh?

On the other hand, had a business partner who got a sticker on his 320 clk that readed “NO fat ladies” on the passengers window 😬

Brilliant. I knew a chap years ago who had a bumper sticker that read: "Fat people are harder to kidnap."

Another day hard at it. And a new vow has been solemnly made. When my current consignment of decaffeinated tea and coffee have been (regrettably) consumed, I will buy not another ounce because it's 'orrible. Away with you decaff, therefore, and never return. I tried but enough is quite enough.

Much the same reasoning and thinking about such things as alcohol free beer......I mean isn't that the whole point of imbibing in the first place, because of the inclusion of the alcohol, or in the case of coffee and tea, caffeine.

I think the same about meat free burgers, sausages or pasties.
A perfect occasion for the use of a WTF if ever there was one in my view.

A law should be passed to ensure original names of original products associated with prime constituents or ingredients can not continue to be used to describe newer products which are different and no longer contain said constituent/ingredient, such as alcohol free beer, wine etc, meat free burgers, sausage, pasties etc caffeine free coffee, tea etc.

I mean just imagine VW releasing a new "beetle" and it looks more akin to a Squished Audi TT than a Beetle.
Heaven forbid!

The mental image of meat free "pasties" has me chuckling like a school boy.

Forgive me.

Whilst tackling the considerable challenges of the Mess last evening, Nicholas and I made a joint, and potentially life-changing, decision. As non-binary fire extinguishers we wish in future to be known by the pronouns: water, foam and powder.

We are offended by absolutely everything because, in constantly playing up for attention, it's the only way we can get adults to take notice of us.

The great thing about being non-binary fire extinguishers is that when our chums set the world on fire, we can extinguish the flames, and live miserably ever after.

Develop some willpower and resist the temptation :p
Afterall,
Anyone can make a mistake said the hedgehog climbing off the yard brush, or the Darlek climbing off the dustbin.

Is it school marming, school-marming, or schoolmarming?

It's becoming more difficult to determine nowadays as the goalposts always seem to be moving and rules keep changing and even rewritten.

Meat-free meat products, milk-free milk products, and VW Beetles barely resembling that once iconic shape, apart from the 5 wheels surely it must be time to stop changing what was, leaving well alone for all to savour and enjoy, and if you want to come up with a new product do so, but not on the back of the original.

I much prefer the original beetle shape, recognisable by most almost anywhere.
Much the same as I prefer meat in my burgers, sausages and pasties, milk from cows (not plant based) in my tea.

Anything else, it's just not cricket.

Just as well you didn't choose CO2.

You would likely end up being "offset" and even "neutralised" (My cousins dog was neutralised by the vet, and he never looked happy after that! And before you grammar police jump in, I realise my intended fau pas so try not to become triggered)

I escaped pdq. Words of terror emanated from the kitchen. "I'm going to make strawberry jam,' said Mrs Grumpy. Based on past experience I fled to the Mess for the duration. Needless to relate the kitchen now resembles the usual aftermath of natural disaster.

Two neutron stars colliding couldn't result in greater catastrophe. Yep. About a thousand laps before it was safe to venture out for a cuppa. Haven't seen the cat for several hours, either.

Possible rumours abound of an anti-theft device becoming available for original beetle owners to retrofit to their cherished chariots.

Testing is still underway and some slight modifications needed after it was reported several overzealous traffic wardens became unexpectedly "pricked", by getting too close and activating the device.

The death of Paddy Hopkirk has been announced today at the age of 89. Like many of his compatriots Paddy started his rallying career in Beetles, with lasting fame having been achieved with BMC. RIP.

Beware offsets and crickets.
Quite a number of numbskulls seems to think beef can be offset by crickets.

More than a thousand laps, therefore.

And I trust many of those were to bed in the spatless 60K10, which needs no crickets or other decorations on its windscreen.

The day of the swirling colour of the French GP. It should be very exciting. I'm especially looking forward to the riveting, rib-tickling interview with Carlos 'Interesting' Sainz. He's a most interesting man. Apparently, he can skin an orange all by himself...

Alternatively, a morning of motor sport at The Mess with cars that actually don't flap up and down. Flap, flap, flap.

Tell me about it. The one place I get to race on a decent length track is at a friend's, who has a potentially nice 4 lane circuit made of classic track, some of which is near 60 years old. Among other issues (electrical continuity, mainly), it's so bumpy that nothing without a magnet will stay in the slot, and even mag cars need caution in a few spots. Add in the very shallow slot depth on some sections, and my success rate for running my cars on it is dismal. I think the only ones we got to run properly were a pair of Scaley Ford Focuses, which were about as much fun as you'd expect Scaley Focuses to be.

My growing interest in routed track techniques is, at least in part, aimed at persuading him that he can have a much nicer track without having to shell out the thick end of $5k for new plastic.

Nice to see the blue Beetle out for a run, in salute to the French GP. What the Mercs were doing there (especially Michael in the Sauber) is beyond me.

Sad to see Ferrari slipping on their own, again.
