Second build now completed for racing at South Manchester Slot Racing Club in the popular 'Thunder Saloon' racing class - stealthy Morris Minor on steroids.

Resin Morris Minor body from Pendle Slot Racing. 3D Printed chassis and wide arches from Amato Slot Car Chassis Design. Slot It and Scaleauto running gear. Body had to be significantly lightened via a Dremel session to fit the chassis and for racing. Chassis was fitted to body by using Amato side rails epoxied to body sides. Arches super-glued to trimmed body sides with light filling. I've found Pendle resin bodies to be excellent to work with and to race - they aren't brittle like some other makes that I've tried.

Looking forward to the first shakedown run tomorrow night at the South Manchester club !

Hi Trisha,

It's still in one piece (just a small paint chip on a front arch) and winning races . We had the Thunder Saloons class at South Manchester Slot Racing Club last week. It got FTD and although pushed hard it won all it's heats. Great fun to drive!

Great model. I found a body online for a Skoda Special Saloon a while ago but it was quite expensive and doesn't fit any of our club classes so I decided to give it a miss.

Betta and Classic have a number of special saloons' bodies in Lexan for under a tenner. Worth looking at their Website.

If your club hasn't a class for such cars, I advise that you start one.

Yes the Chris Isaacs Moggie gave me the idea for the build . I've seen pics of the Skoda Special Saloon.... that would make a superb 1/32 racer!
