Hi ALL,
Was flicking through afx on ebay when I stumbled across a Aurora AFX essex lotus 81G+(mint boxed etc)---the price for this little gem is £745!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can anyone beat this price or is it just a overpriced hopefull punt?

I've seen the Essex Lotus at that price a few times myself. I know it is rare but I'm not sure I'd put that kind of price on it!

The most I have paid for a car is around £35 for a Tyrrell P34. Mental price for an HO slot car but I really wanted it!

I got outbid on the Marlboro McLaren and Camel Lotus Tomy Turbos when the bidding went over £78 for the pair. I decided it was getting a bit too crazy!

The other crazy ones to look out for are the Toyota Group Cs. The Taka Q and Denso cars command ridiculous prices and even the Minolta car has starting prices of £30 but I don't know if anyone is buying at that price.

Some cars go for four figures.

The is a chap in Europe who runs a website showing what cars go for on evilbay.

I can't remember the site name, but he uses the forum that rymes with bobbytalk.

And his username is? I'd like to have a look at that site.

I don't think I'd ever want a car enough to pay four figures. And I really want some of the cars!!

Nicely done. Please, please, please let me know if you see any more for that kind of money!!

Jim, what was your £60 car?

I know that the pro-mod cars and hobby chassis cost over £50 for the basic ones so you can easily go into three figures on those.

The dearest hobby chassis are four or five hundred dollars each.

The most I ever paid for a car was £280 for a Slottech Cheetah (just a chassis), followed by £100 or so for a Din Bata AFX Williams. My most valuble slot car cost me £15

I was expecting my Rokar 240Z to set me back quite a lot after the amount of hype it received from Deane but it actually wasn't that pricey!

Prices have not gone mental on the two Rokars I rave about because they are for more a racing body than a collectable, and the tatty decals put collectors off.

Gareth - do you think they would mount on an MR1 or Micro?

Tatty is about right! I'm thinking a full re-paint of my 911. I love the Datsun paint scheme so will leave as it is although it is a bit of a mess.

I'll take some photos and see if they marry up. I think the answer might be no though. Hang on!!

Remember the F1 MR1 has two wheelbases.

You need to use a thinner axle or it will rub the busses, but you can just about use two settings.

I think that we could soon see a Rokar/LL giving the dominant MR1 a run for it's money nationally. It would make sense for the MR1 runners to co-opt the body for their own ends then...

I don't have an F1 MR-1 so someone else will have to use a LifeLike body and their chassis to see if it works.

I'm waiting on some Tyco axles from LB which seem to have got lost on their way over and then my Mod LifeLike car will be getting built.

I also have been playing with another LifeLike for WHO Mod which has new neo magnets. Whether they are stronger than the original is debatable though. And I put them in in neutral setting too. Anyway, onto the chassis question.

The MS chassis in SWB mode is a fantastic fit for the 240. Far better than the Artin I tried before that!! Photos being taken now.

Et voila!

First we have an Artin F (formerly owned by one Mr Walpole I believe!!)

Next up is the MS chassis (from the Shell Porsche body hence the yellow wheels)

And finally same chassis but with the Porsche Rokar shell.

The body is just sitting on the chassis but it is a lovely fit. Bit of double sided and you'd be sorted.

The wheelbase seems to be an issue with the wide MR1. I know it has another setting but my front axle won't fit in the SWB hole!!
