QUOTE Anyone running a book on how long it will take someone to sneak over to SCI and post it as if discovered by self?

Can I take that as being a reference to me?

To be honest I was waiting for somebody else to post at SCI and monitoring the situation before I went ahead and provided a link. It only seems to be me, Tropi, Mecoprop and Intergrale (and only in my threads in Intergrale's case) posting there these days but no matter. Why do I get a sense that some folk are constantly in my shadow following me around?

SCI has taken on a more American feel recently although folk do still need help with issues that they have and some of the Slotforum members, dare I say, are possibly better qualified to provide an answer than the aforementioned. And surely our fellow enthusiasts in the Americas are deserving of newsflow?

Just thought I would mention that I made reference to the USA seeing the new site late afternoon in my SCI post before it got a mention here as it seems to be "have a go at Moped" time!

Time to get back to "Challenger" and set up a new challenging circuit. Noting the comment earlier about "banked curves" that is probably the only thing that is going to fool this cunning little car! I wonder how the MotoGP bikes will perform against it?

And as for Challenger's flashing lights. Remember that folk generally will leave Challenger on the circuit to avoid a learning session. Challenger could get stamped on as a result and I suspect the flashing lights are a warning to Mum and Dad to walk around Challenger rather than over it!

So are you going to tell us poms what the crack is 550rs or are you going to keep us all in suspense?

Oh I wish I was an Australian for once! By the way, its snowing in toyland!

Proper snow. I think I will take a photograph and post it here for our Australian friend.

I have set my PC date to the 29th. What does "Horah!" mean? That is a good question 550rs.

I don't think things are going to happen until somebody at Hornby presses the launch button and pops open the champagne corks later today.

However will it be champagne or high caffein concentrate coffee served up in Margate tonight I wonder?

The aformentioned referred to includes myself. Technically there are folk here who are way above me in the list of those who can provide relevent help to out cousins at SCI however there are also folk across the pond who are probably of equal standing.

However, slot car sites can also be a bit dry at times and it takes all sorts to make a slot car message board of interest to a wide audience.

Only about 8 hours or so to go now.

I'll give Challenger MotoGp 2 years!

Although I can see a Pacer type device being re-introduced to support MotoGP rather than a Challenger MotoGP bike.

If the Scalextric MotoGP enthusiast appears to be an entirely different breed to the slot car racing enthusiast then there will more than likely be a whole range of MotoGP linked accessories offered in the coming years.

And of course there will be some cross dressers. Me included!

Its not midnight where I am. If things are going to happen its likely to be midnight GMT = Great Margate Time.

Only 1 hour to go.

I think anybody who posts here in this thread between say 00:37 and 02:00 hours GMT today should be compensated with a free Scalextric MotoGP bike!

Well, I'm up this morning and all the schools around our way are closed. Its gridlocked around Birmingham and somebody I know took 5 hours to get home last night on a journey that normally takes 20 minutes.

Trains are mainly frozen up. Could all this have something to do with it?

I have also noticed that you require Macromedia to view the site properly so the issues could be with the plug ins rather than the site.

No doubt something will be happen today. Lets wait and see.

Maybe we have all missinterpreted the countdown and that is was a countdown to the day the site was to go live rather than the precise second that the site was to go live.

So lets give it until midnight tonight before the fan is hit with something.

The web site is up and running and delivered on time just a few minutes after the launch of Scalextric MotoGP. Wait for the rev counter to hit 12000 rpm before all is revealed.

All new MotoGP sets are to have banked curves so that the riders lean into the corners. The riders are detatchable and are held on with magnets so that they come off realistically in the event of a spill. The front wheel steers. The rear wheel has a direct drive to the motor to provide authentic performance.

Well done to Hornby for offering an innovative new product that will create a new following for the hobby.

Back to bike statistics.

Did you know that each bike has around 200 seperate paint prints and that each paint print has 2 coats.

The previous record was a TVR with 40 seperate paint prints.

Hornby said that there may well be future developments for the bikes but were not prepared to say anymore. They are aware of feedback and pointed out that this mainly comes from the car racing community. The motor bike racing community appear to be more understanding and are just happy to have a product that moves and offers an opportunity to race their favourite heroes.

MotoGP are very happy to have the bikes placed in the marketplace at their current stage of development because the workmanship and detailing is so incredible that they consider they will appeal to both the collector and the new bread of MotoGP slot bike enthusiast.

Hornby will be working on the 2004 liveries but these have yet to be revealed by MotoGP to even Hornby and as a project it will be all hands to the bridge when they are announced.

MotoGP bikes will not carry the tobacco sponsorship part of any livery and Hornby also made it clear that they are not able to consider including references to such sponsors on their products.

To quote Adrian Norman on the Scalextric website:-

QUOTE The height of the motorbikes (with rider) is 82mm

Now this is taller than a Fly truck!
