That could be caused by any one of a number of problems.
If Rob's suggestion doesn't work, another possibility is a pole failed.
As you turn the motor by hand you'll notice it clonks over from magnetic pole to pole 6 times a rev.
If it won't start, turn it one or two clonks and try again.
If it will start in some positions at not others, it may be repairable if you strip the motor down. If you are not into taking motors apart, then its time for a new motor.
