Hiya all.

Just wondering if anyone as tried to re-design a motorbike and side car combination. These are great fun items even if limited in numbers, I think I can remember about 6 being produced in total and that includes the Typhoon and Hurricane which I guess you wouldn't want to change or alter as they still look quite cool the way they are, at least in my eyes. but the others look a little bit dated so was wondering what can be done to change the shape and colour. any ideas of course very welcome.

AA do at least one design, which is in fibreglass. I'm sure I saw one built in an issue of NSCC magazine quite som time ago in the "Kits and Bits" section that Phile edits/writes.

Theres an article in July 1964 Model Cars on improving the "Typhoon"!
Although, they may be getting a bit expensive to start chopping up these days and it does get quite involved by todays standards!!
If you want a copy PM me your address & I'll put it in the post or pop it through your letter box

Thanks SplitRim I hadn't thought of Fiberglas, could be interesting I have about three years worth of NSCC mags I will have a look through them and see if I can come up with anything.

Eddie your knowledge as always leaves me wondering how the heck you remember all this stuff. but it would be interesting I have to say. yes your right the Typhoon and Hurricane are now expensive to tinker with and anyway they look much better than the newer versions in my mind at least. I have looked at the 1.1 to see what they look like now and in some cases they don't seem to have changed a great deal and other ones look almost futuristic.

I'm currently remaking one using the newer Scalextric body. At the moment, I'm waiting to get some filler for the new wheel arch, as I have made it more realistic. The sidecar wheels is further forward than the drive wheel, and it's one wheel drive. I'm currently making the new chassis out of styrene, but it's only an experiment.

Are AA bodies making anything anymore? a few weeks back there were some ebay auctions now they have all disappeared and there's no website for them anymore either

I would like to get a couple of bodies so if anyone knows how to get in touch with them please let me know.

Hi folks

I have acquired the rights to the AA body sidecar moulds and they will be re-designed slightly and re-issued next year by Slotcarmann Limited.

I also hope to do some new ones, including classic sidecars.

I do not know if AA are still trading, but last I heard, when I bought the sidecar moulds, they were.

Cheers

My sidecar is coming along nicely. It's just a quick build, so parts aren't as well made as thy could be, but overall I'm pleased with the progress. I tried to buy some of those sidecars about this time last year and was disappointed when I couldn't. I look forward to the new release.
