If you have the later combination with wide tyres the correct ones are "mini slick" tyres from the Minis, Escorts ect.
The earlier Typhoon & Hurricane combinations from the 60s have a fairly large skinny tyre fitted.

check out www.scalextric-car.co.uk put in the scaly code he will have tyres
i,m pretty sure that wayne WASP SLOT will have what you want. if not send him a tyre and he,ll knock up a batch for you and add them to his list. i need some as well, just haven,t got round to it yet. aren,t they the same size as the scaly march 6 wheeler, john

Yes, sorry, that was a bit vague reading it back.
By Group C I meant the original Hornby Scalextric Porsche 962, Sauber Mercedes C9 and Jaguar XJR9. They all used the same wheel and tyre combo apart from some of the later variants like the Wild 360 cars and the Supercats set cars.
This is only for the later magnatraction sidecars like "Racing Red" and "Yellow Flash" or the White and Yellow set bikes or the "Power Rangers" bikes. If you have the earlier - but same bodied - ones that were basically black with either green or red and silver flashes (C281/2) then it should have small Superslix as fitted to a lot of 70s/80s Scalextric cars. If they are too big I can't help as they were the smallest tyre, diameter-wise, fitted to any Scalextric sidecars.

Yes they are Scalextric. and the Mini tyres that I have tried are the BMW Mini, not the Austin Mini, so I guess I could have misunderstood on that one. Anyway I think I have now sourced the correct tyres from RS Slot racing, at least I hope I have

Thank you all for input I will let you know how I get on. Also I have looked at Forum for ideas on making a new shape for the side car, some real interesting ideas on there for sure, of course all beyond my skill set but interesting just the same.

I bought an outfit off e-bay.
Its been a huge disappointment as the tyres just spin, it gets no traction what so ever. The outfit rapidly slides sideways jamming against the slot and then the pinion gear slips on the shaft . . . disaster.
I could do with ordering something sticky and slicky for the rear boots - but I have no idea what to buy or where to buy it from.
If somebody else has had this problem and solved it, could they please point me in the right direction ?
The outfit in question is built say late 1980's early 1990 ~ roughly. I had one outfit back then for a brief period, and after getting the slot car guide to sit a heck of a lot lower, and adding a biro spring suspension it used to go like greased lightning round the track.

If it's the early one - pre-magnatraction and mainly black, with either red or green graphics - C281/2 - then it should have small superslix as fitted to many of the small saloons of the 70's and 80's and the front of most of the similar period Grand Prix cars.
If it's the later one - magnatraction and either mostly red, yellow or white or the Power Rangers versions - then it should have the tyres fitted to the Group C cars Scalextric produced around the same time Jaguar XJR9, Sauber Mercedes and Porsche 962.
Ortmanns are certainly available for the early ones, not sure about the later.
The chassis are interchangeable though so as we are talking about second hand items of 20/30 years ago, it may be best to put a picture up. Or perhaps a link to the Ebay sale.

It is pre-magnets.

But really I would like some info, not on the original tyres, but on something stick soft and loadza traction.
