Hi - I bought this off ebay recently, a brand new boxed Airfix/MRRC slimline 'clubman' motor.

it looks factory fresh and unrun to me so a nice find.

But

on the side it says ashley loco motor catalogue no. 1002

Is there any difference in spec between this and the slot car motor?

ta for the help

Is it a 3 or 5 pole motor?
I bought a boxed 5 pole motor like that in the 80's, it turned out to be too slow for slot cars so I put it into a "oo" loco kit and it ran fine, still does!
Would think if it's a 3 pole it will be to the same spec as used in the slot cars.

Sounds like if it is geared to make the most of the torque it will be Ok as a motor for a transporter project I have on the back burner....

And Phil, you know i usually ask you first!

Yes, I got caught on e-bay with one of these too! Haven't tried it yet but I expect it'll be the slow version. Could always give it to my railway modeller Dad but he's downsizing his loco collection.

John Secchi: If I make it to North London for the Area 6 Group C Challenge this Thursday one of the car's I'll be running is a 202 saloon chassis you built in 2000... I know that cos you etched the info. onto the front pans!
