It all started when I ordered a Carrera Formula 1 Set from Littlewoods which was, at the time, on special offer.

They delivered my order, but I noticed the Ferrari's rear wing was missing so phoned up straight away to get it exchanged.

Delivery man turns up a few days later and drops off the new set....but doesn't take the old set. Now, a week after the new set arrived Littlewoods delivery another set to me - lol. I now have no less than THREE Carrera Formula 1 Sets for which I only paid for one. 3 Sets = 1 Mega Layout YIPPEE!!!!!

I'm not opening the two extra sets for a while just in case Littlewoods want them back

Oh Happy Days.....

PS. And no, I aint giving the sets away so don't ask

Yo guys,
Did any of your moms ever taught you basic honesty?

I mean along with what's important in life, like ripping Littlewoods because it's just a bunch of rich capitalists?

Right on TSRF,
I don't suppose I would ever hope to get a lost wallet back in the U.K.

I used to feel sorry when the Brit tourists would get ripped off here in Greece and would make a point of correcting the problem if I saw it. Perhaps I don't need to be so "helpful" next time since some of them seem to have the same attitude as the culprits here.

I spend allot of time preaching basic honesty to my Greek English students and have sited many examples from my experiences both in the U.S. and the U.K. from many years back. I guess that the newer generations have lost some of that basic honesty which I used to see everywhere in both countries. It's a real shame.

Littlewoods (amongst other capitalists) make enough money out of me. It's about time they gave something back!

And besides, it ain't my problem they can't sort out their couriers. I'll just reap the rewards of my good fortune this time.

Precisely! If Littlewoods were losing money hand over fist, they should give the courier contract to another company
I don't see why the man in the street should be held responsible for the lazy van driver not doing his job (my wife has a Littlewoods catalogue and she said that the couriers are supposed to take back return etc.) Littlewoods database would surely show the purchases already sent.

Whilist we can all try and be honest, the problem isn't just in good old blighty. About 3 years ago we went on a family holiday to EuroDisney. All was going well until I left the digital camcorder on the back of the chair in the restaurant. Yes, hold my hand up, my own fault, distracted by kids etc. However, within the space of 5 minutes, I'd realised and rushed back to find no trace, no one had noticed. Went to lost property, nothing there. To disney's credit they got me an interpreter (Dutch, but spoke excellent English and French - puts us to shame it does) We spent 2 hours in the local French nick making a statement, but alas to know avail.

Also to Disney's credit my wife and kids were well looked after during the afternoon

So dishonesty is rife in whatever country you visit....

its not necessarily the courier's fault. I had a similar incident with a loudspeaker. But the courier wouldn't take the broken 1 because the people who had ordered his services, or his manager at the depot, hadn't authorised him to pick up stuff.

Saddly the shop noticed about 4 months later, and did arrange for pick up of the extra goods. Oh well.

QUOTE I don't suppose I would ever hope to get a lost wallet back in the U.K.

You would but there would be no cash.

Like it would be different anywhere else? of course it would not forgetting... been pickpocketed in France, Suitcase tampered with in Miami (case locked in room) & other bits, but you get the drift...

I recall, one chap used an ATM device, removed his card and walked off leaving a fair wad of money still in the machine.

Me of course being a Brit, I ran off with it, naturally...

Only having a bit of fun regarding Littlewoods.

Best regards,

Jamie

Well, for all the nightmares and other horror stories, there are likely just as many happy endings. My wife left her purse on a street car in San Francisco and when our alcohol impaired selves realized it and caught another trolly (they all look the same to me), the driver radioed around and within an hour, she had her purse back. Her cash was still in it, and when we tried to offer a $20 reward, they would have none of it.

Kind of made up for how unexpectedly cold that city is in July.

ps. Enjoy those sets, they'll either correct their incompetence or succumb to Darwin's law. Natural selection is all the rage.
