Excellent track table! Have you done something clever like put cork/magnetic paint on the underside so that it can be a decoration board when not in use?

As for rally/racing, I say it's what you say it is.
Most plastic rally tracks are made to be run with one car using odd numbers of crossovers and a timer of some kind so that it's really just one lane and meant to be a race against the clock. If it's two cars at once, then it's racing... or rally-cross.
The chicane and hump bridge really help, too.

Definitely keep us posted. I'm sure I'm not the only one interested in seeing more.

hi been a few days as my second youngest the one in the first pic was taken to hospital due to illness and thank god he is home with us last night but is still ill and the worst thing is they dont now whats wrong with him , but he is a little fighter and as i stayed at home with him today we done some bits on the build between him asking for a spiderman car every 5 mins lol so we took all the track back off the table as we are going for a aberstone rally track and hopefully the rest of the pieces will be with us by weekend for his birthday , then wallpapered the table as directed by the missus so we took 2 steps back but will take 5 steps forward in next few days when it all lands and will update as we go atb daz

heres the table in idle position papered

hi ya robbo i didnt hinge it as being 4 ft wide wouldnt reach the back of it when needed so i built a shelf so to speak to hold it in position the put some bolts that protrude through bottom of frame into holes on shelf the retained the top part with clips so it lifts off shelf then sits on dinning table giving total accss if you require pics or such lmk happy to help daz

Firstly A HUGE THANK YOU for posting this picture

Thanks to me leaving this pic on my monitor and then the wife seeing it an saying that looks nice

Its looking like I might be able to cash in some brownie points and build a track in the kitchen

Great idea for storing your track

For me your track design has to many of the same corner type.
Try corners with different radius in them like R2,R1,R2 or R1,R2,R2 or even putting a half straight in the corner.

Here's a track design I've come up with for the area I have available. 2.10x1.60m

Keep the pictures coming cause we all like to see them.
+ half of us can't read

cheers coldblood /gaz

ive took all the track back off the board and bought some more track pieces awaiting delivery. Im going to build a aberstone rally track, who very helpfully sent me a list of track sections needed and a run through of what pieces go where .
Glad the photos helped to persuade your missus lol

will update when i done more work on it
just havent the time at the moment as my 4 year old back in hospital and i have the 3 year old with me while missus is at the hospital but soon as hes out and all sections land we will be building it up and the forest scenery so will be pic heavy

Here's an example of a rally track cramming as much as possible into 4x8 without overpasses or crossovers. This is NOT my design, unfortunately it's been so long since I copied it, that I've forgotten where I saw it. This would definitely be a challenging track for anyone, not the least youngsters, but it might stimulate some ideas for your track.

mr flippant ,
nice 1 for that does look a good track i will build aberstones and also the one you just posted and have a drive of both as its going to be a permanent track
i want to be happy with it the first layouts i done just wasnt happy myself with them and if i started to do the scenery would have just been a total waste of money and time

cheers mate atb daz

If you mean the break in the track in the track plan. Its where the track doesn't join up, but you get a fair bit of movement in the track. So you could easily get the break to join without causing to much stress on the rest of the track joints.

Yeah, in real life, it wouldn't exist, as you would just join them up no problem. Most designs don't fit together perfectly in a track planner. There's a way to make it look connected, but I like to leave the gap so that I know how much tweaking I'll need to do when putting it together. In this case, very little to no tweaking will be needed.
